Here's a really easy one:

What is the rarest production die?

(the answer is on the forum somewhere)

Answer to DDTQ#4
protagonist: Warlord
antagonist: Hecuava
Extra Credit: The Hecuava ( former Amazonian) casting Soiled Ground, a Goblin racial spell

Well, it's certainly not the Pelter...at least, not in this house.

I know, I know!!!

But I'm not telling. And I'd be willing to bet Pelter's answer is wrong.....

It's probably the TSR Gold Dragon Champion,
since it was made from the left over Gold of the Gold Medallion. Very Happy

Is "rarest" determined by how many were made or how many are in existence now? And by "production", I would take it that promo dice are excluded.

If its by the number manufactured, it would have to be either the reprint Unseeli Faerie (63), the reprint Ormyrr (?), or the hybrid dragons (?). Since Chuck said Pelter_Boy probably has it wrong, I'm going to say its not the Unseeli. So, my guess would be the Ormyrr.

If its by the number in existence now, then the TSR Unseeli Faerie would have to be it.

The reason I said Pelter Boy would be wrong, is that by production, I would take it as the number made. I've never published those numbers, and the answer would surprise you....

But the question is, how is Pelter_Boy defining "production"? Usually, production means non-promo, non-prototype dice. By your definition Chuck, the answer is any die that only one was made, such as the Scalder Filcher.

The Scalder Filcher is a prototype. No question about that, Lester himself when he sold it, called it a prototype. By production, I mean dice that were produced to be sold. Some of the "promo" dice, such as the Scalder and Frostwing 'promos" are really production dice.

Then the answer would be the Undead Guardian and Undead Shadowchaser, as they were found in kicker packs.

Or would those be considered prototypes? If so, then it would almost have to be the promo Unseeli or the reprint Ormyrr, as there seems to be more than 50 of each of the hybrid dragons, and no other die was produced in such small quantities. I can't imagine that you made less than 50 white dragons. Of course, since we don't know how many starters were made, I suppose it could be the reprint Coral Giant, Umber Hulk, Death Naga, or Beholder.

I define production as non-promo non-prototype dice intended to be sold.

This would exclude:
promo frosties
promo scalders
eldarim
hybrids and whites
undead guardian and shadowchaser
prototypes

I would have to guess which one is the rarest, but I shure know which one is the hardest to get: it's the Pelter, because they're all piled in Rob's house!!! LOL!!!
