Dancing Lights expire (don't worry- it will be back)

1st march: army at frontier maneuvers terrain up to 5.

2nd march: army at Die(ter)'s home terrain rolls for magic. (roll) Firewalker mages come thru again with 7 points of ID and 7 magic icons. I'll take six magic icons as red and the rest as blue magic to cast a Dancing Lights and Summon Blue Dragonkin five times. So, Dancing Lights on your reserve army again and summon Dragonmount, 2 Dragonfoals, and a Dragonscout.

I now end my turn.

OK, my turn! Doesn't look too good for me presently, but we'll see if I can get back onto my feet again:

Well, I don't have much of a choice, so I roll my reserves for magic again!

Roll, roll, expecting no good ----> These are by far the worst rolls I ever made with my Undead! This can only be beaten by my bad Goblin rolls in the chatroom with Steve, Robert and Joe!

Spectre ID and two icons of magic, halfed by Dancing lights, that leaves 2 in total! Not of much use for me!

2nd march at Die(ter)'s home terrain-roll for magic (roll) 2 points of ID and 9 magic icons. I'll take six magic icons as red and the rest as blue. I'll cast Dancing Lights on your reserve army and a Lightning Strike on the Heucuva.

After that I'll end my turn.

Heucuva can't create a save and gets killed.
Heucuva hops over into my DUA and complains about not having enough room in that crowd over there! (Heucuvas take "privacy" pretty serious, y'know!). Well, the Apparition gets fed up with the bad mooded Heucuva and decides to join my reserves (stepped damage).

Don't have any better idea than rolling my Reserves for magic (and don't have a choice either!):

roll, roll, roll, roll, roll, roll, roll, roll, (maybe it helps rolling more intensive??), roll, roll, roll, roll, roll, roll, ----> 2 icons rolled, the rest of the dice I swallowed with anger Wink Wink Wink (you needn't to redo that on your playing table, Brad! Laughing) , replaced them by others out of my collection and magic points halfed by Dancing Lights and there-fore again not of much use for me.

Reserve phase:
Lets get brave (suicidal?) now: Moving all Reserves to frontier terrain!**GLURP**
Ain't got much of a choice anyway! Neutral

Dacing Lights expires since the units all leave the reserve army!

Ok, 1st march at Die(ter)'s home terrain: roll for magic (roll) 3 points of ID and 7 magic icons. I'll take it all as blue for a total of 13 points of blue magic. I'll use it to cast 6 Hailstorms at your frontier army.

I got five save icons, that leaves one hit point of damage.
I choose an Apparition to go to the DUA.

I figured you would. (roll) I got 4 points of ID and 4 points of maneuver for a total of 8 maneuver results.

I rolled an Apparition ID in my counter-maneuver roll. With 1 point of maneuver I can't successfully counter yours so your maneuver was sucessful!

Terrain goes up to 7. Melee attack (roll) I got 1 point of ID, 5 points of melee, and 8 Firewalker save icons for a total of 14 melee results.

Rolling for saves: I got two Spectre IDs = 4 saves total

That leaves ten health worth of casualties, I've got 9 hp at the terrain.

Removing all units and sending them into my DUA.
One Spectre brings back one Apparition (stepped damage).


Counterattack ----> Apparition ID =1

Gee, I thought you would take the 8th face (I mean, why not?). Counter-attacks are optional, so I don't have to attack you, but since you asked for it... (roll, roll) Got 9 points of ID, 6 melee icons, and 2 Firewalker save icons for a total of 17 melee results. That ends the game.

Great game Die(ter). Sorry your Undead didn't want to cooperate with you.

If you don't mind me asking, why did you bring Coastland terrains? Half the faces on them are missile, which does the Undead no good. Swampland or Flatland would seem to be a better choice, as melee starts on face 5 for those terrains.

Thanks for the game; I hope you do well against your next forum opponent.

Well, the game was lost already! I had no chance to recover anymore even with an 8th face! Without the 8th face it was more likely to be the last turn.

Yes, I enjoyed it, too, in spite of loosing!! It was fun and I'll put up the next one in the forum! But I wish to have more luck in rolling my dice next time. I had really bad rolls in this one!

Of course I don't mind you asking!!
I used to play with Swamplands and Coastlands (but Cities, not Standing Stones) lately. I like both, but it depends on the opponents race. Coastlands' melee starts pretty late (6th face) but most of the races don't do very well in coastlands, that's an advantage for me, since Undead don't depend on certain terrains.
This time it was a bad choice since you played Firewalkers, but I didn't want to quickly change the terrains after you posted your army. I always play 100% honest and in real life your opponent builds his army without you knowing what he's gonna play, right? So I surrendered in my fate Wink Laughing .

But I also didn't stay with my usual tactics either, I wanted to try a different approach! But you never know if a tactics will work or not. This time it didn't, especially with my additional bad luck in rolling! But I think it's very important to leave the paths you're used to walk and to find out other ways to play the game. After the really bad hits I suffered from right in the beginning of the game it was too late to change back to my used tactics 'cause I had lost at least three marches by that!

Thank you, too, Brad! It was fun and it works pretty well in the forum. I didn't mind the breaks in between and it's a good way to get more different players to play against.

I'd say, this experiment was a successful one. (What do you think about playing in the forum, Brad?)

I also don't mind loosing a game (I take it with humor), since every lost game give's you lessons to learn! You'll never get better if you never loose.
