Just a game Idea I had, might be an interesting play variation.

Elemental Terrains:

an elemental terrain is a specialty terrain that is composed of only a single element. Elemental terrains would have their own set of types (such as tower, city etc.) and would not be in play as per a standard terrain.

Summoned terrain: Elemental terrains would be summoned into play by mages, and would be placed fourth in line of the 3 active terrains. when summoned, the elemental terrain would be rolled as per a standard terrain. casting a second time would allow the active player to move the terrain up or down one face, unless the terrain is at an 8th face.

Entering/exiting terrain - terrain can be entered from any terrain that shares a color with the elemental terrain, it may be exited to any terrain, or to the reserve. This terrain in many ways would act like the reserve area.

Magical terrain - as an elemental terrain, it is inherently dangerous. units killed within the elemental terrain that do not share it's color must roll an ID or be immediately buried. Units that share a color may double ID results for all magic, missile, melee, maneuver and save results.

terrain degredation - each round that a unit is in the terrain, it automatically turns up one face. for each round that the terrain is empty, it turns down one face. any army within the terrain may contest this maneuver, the winning army may choose to move the terrain as they so choose.

first face/8th face - if the terrain reaches the 1st face, the elemental terrain immediately disappears, all units within the terrain must make a maneuver avoidance roll or immediately be destroyed. 8th face would not count towards the requirement of 2 8Th faces to win.

actions within an elemental terrain - no missile attacks may go into or out of an elemental terrain. ONLY magic of the terrains color may be cast at the terrain. any race within the terrain may cast this color from the basic spell list. Any race that shares a color with the terrain automatically doubles regular results. Regardless of the terrains currently showing face, any army at this terrain may make a melee attack against the opposing army.

This is just a rough idea I had today, I'd be interested in hearing other peoples thoughts! Mr. Green

Interesting idea. Maybe these terrains could go into a variation game where Dragon Dice™ becomes more of an adventure type game. Since you propose these terrains are to be summoned, they should be the size of the minor terrains so they can't be confused with the regular terrains.

It's almost like opening a temporary portal to the outer realms.

I've played with concepts for making single color terrains before, but we have so many terrains already.

a temp portal along with some type of elemental unit... starting to sound like unearthly :-p

My Thoughts Exactly. Kind of a chaotic magic terrain, With a high risk-reward attached to it.

MikeD's idea of Minor terrain would work, make it seem like a lesser terrain (which I guess it is)

and besides, there's only 72 variations on Major/Minor Terrains, thats not that many Mr. Green

I would like to see a deadland terrain dice (black & amber) like the undead. It could be also completely different like let's say 1st face melee, 2nd face missile, 3rd face magic, 4th face melee again and so on ... Smile
