Ahmmmm, Steve? You've just moved all your units to your home at the end of your last turn! You can't move'em all to my home, you need to go into reserves first, if you want to do that. Smile

You're right. I'm a turn behind.

Aalard calls for magic. Mana sends a flood to the Undead swamp, and summons a pair of Air Wyrms to that same swamp.

Rolling magic...

11 wands, Enchanter and Bowman ID=19 after doubling.

Flash Flood your home. Two Blue Wyrms to your home.

Resolve the FF before I decide on reserve move.

(Should've let me continue with my mistake-you had the game won. Wink )

Flash Flood was the only spell I was afraid of! But how could I expect you to forget it?? Laughing Laughing Laughing
Ahh, well, not every insidious underhand plan works. Mr. Green

Noah, the second Vampire who had been sent to their home, couldn't get rid of the feel that something really bad would happen since the moment he arrived there with his fellows. So he had decided to follow his instincts and had told the Spectres to help him collecting wood.
Now, with the Spectres just returning - each with a pile of dried wood in it's arms - Noah had to realize that his instincts had been right! A huge wall of foaming water rolles in, heading for their hideout. Noah always has been very selfconfident about his skill in woodworks but by seeing this incoming desaster he realizes that he won't be able to finish his ark in time.
Well, the spectres were the only pair available anyway, and they weren't even alive! To heck with the ark! Hold on to the wood!!!! And hold your breath!!!!

Resolving the Flood: --> ZERO maneuvers! Terrain down to 5, melee.

"Well", Noah thinks, while working his way to the water surface, "at least we are not dead! It could have gotten worse!"
AND IT DOES GET WORSE!!!
The powerful wave carries all three of them right in front of the clawed feet of two hungry looking blue wyrms.

Aalard sighs, and decides the Selumari™ have to resist their urge to run and hide. They go back to reserves to go challenge the dead.

In that case, all to reserves. Done.

Rolling dragons...

1st wyrm: Belly
2nd wyrm: Breath

Talk about all-or-nothing...

Resolving Breath: Vampire gets frosted! Spectre saves with three shields.
Rolling for Combination roll: --> 3 saves, two melee

Rolling minor: --> melee
1st March:
Maneuvering frontier up to 8th, burying minor.
Rolling for magic: --> 6 icons and Skeleton ID. That's 8 incl. doubling ID.

I take 6 in green (Standing Stones!!) to cast 2 x Wall of ice on my home army. Doubling black ID for 2, casting 1 x Evil Eye on your Reserves.

2nd March: Maneuvering my home terrain up to 6, melee.

No reserve move.

Fade on Minor Death expires. My turn ends.

The Air Wyrms swish, slash, and roll.

1st wyrm: Tail-claw
2nd wyrm: Tail-belly

So 12 hits, with one rolled over.

And pray to the mighty Gods of Esfah that the dark astral forces of the battled lands dwindle!!!
(If your prayers fail you'll be in big doo-doo!!! )

I've been waiting for that all game-it's about time you get around to it!

I'll try!!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I hope I didn't take my mouth too full!! Laughing Laughing

Wall of Ice expires!

Rolling for combo: --> 2 shields and three dirty Undead feet!
4 Casualties, both Uncommons go and bring back both commons from my DUA (stepped damage).

Now it's my turn to pray if I don't want to hear your laughter coming from over the ocean! Laughing

1st March:
Rolling campaign army for magic: --> Mummy ID, Revenant ID, 2 Wraith IDs, Apparition ID and 1 magic icon from another Apparition = 9, doubling IDs = 17

After having thought for quite a while I finally decided NOT to try my Night Move tactics since chances are pretty low to win the maneuvers!
I'll better try to finally reduce your army a little bit:

I cast 8 x Evil Eye on your Horde = minus 8 saves!

No 2nd March!

Reserve phase: retreating my home army into reserves and also pulling back all except the commons from the frontier. The commons stay there!

My turn ends!

Rolling Wyrms: --> Aaaaaaaaargh!!!!! 2 x treasure chest!!!!!!!! This is unbelievable!!!!!

Yes, I can hear you laugh, Steve!!

Laughing

YES, I HEAR IT!!

OK, I shouldn't give you advice in the middile of the game, but-Why didn't you try Night Moves supplemented by two Restless Dead spells? I do have a lot of dice there, and the odds were against you, but they're only magic and missile units, not cavalry. It might have been something of a long shot, but it was a chance to win this turn. (The risk, of course, is that I would end up with the 8th, but then you'd just have to go fight me for my home.)

You have to be the most unlucky roller I've ever played.

The Selumari™ have no need for treasure, but a hail of arrows brings down one of the beasts. An Enchanter's cantrip brings a green Dragonfoal. They trudge toward the city.

Resolving dragon attack: 11 bows, 6 IDs, 1 sword, plus a Cantrip. Only one dragon gets offed. Cantrip summons a green Dragonfoal.

Maneuver your home to 7. Done.

I'm still waiting for the Black Fury to strike...

ME TOO!!!!

I thought about that combination, had already decided to go for it and changed my mind in the last second 'cause I feared the Wyrms!! Well......

You mean you summon a green Scout, not Foal, right? Smile

1st March: Rolling campaign army for magic: --> 4 icons from two Apparitions and 2 Wraith IDs = 8 incl. doubling.

Casting Fade on a Wraith and move it with Path to my home! 1 point expires unused.

2nd March: Rolling Reserves for magic: --> 8 icons (Vampire, 2 Heucuvas) and Minor Death and Apparition IDs = 13

Night Moves on my home army (the faded Wraith), Restless Dead on my home army.

Yes, I take the chance this time, I won't get it again! But I know your rolls, so this sure ain't gonna work. What the heck! I DO IT!

Rolling Wraith for maneuvers: --> ID = 1 (+4 from Restless Dead) =5

Well, you picked a good time...and I picked a bad time for a disastrous roll: 4 IDs and 1 foot (from the Scout-someday I'll keep all the kin names straight)=5. It's a tie, so you win!

Congratulations!

WOW!
That was unexpected!
It was kinda desperate move but every now and then even I have some luck! Laughing Laughing

Well, I had some more good rolls in this game than in our last game. I think I have to thoroughly think over my army setup!
I had much better rolls with my Amazon army which is setup very well, I guess.
Maybe with another setup I will be more successful with my spookies??

Anyway, it was - as always - great fun to play against you. I've learned a lot about playing with Coral Elves and I have to change my mind about them Embarassed .
They can be really challenging if played with the right strategy.
They're not that bad at all!

Well, I'm looking forward to the Chill Wind Campaign game where I will play my Amazon/CE army. That'll give me the chance to try what I've seen now! Twisted Evil

Thank you very much for this interesting game. I think it was more tense (at least to me) than the one before.
Especially at the end! Very Happy

Two things:
First, Wall of Ice can not be cast twice on the same army.

Second, when holding a Standing Stones 8th face, you can only double IDs that match the color of the terrain. So you only could have 4 Gold or Green from 4 health of IDs. The only color you can double in this case is black.

Sometimes I really have some blackouts, huh??
Usually I know that I can only double IDs matching the color of the terrain!!

And usually I know that I can cast Wall of Ice only once! Multiple castings target multiple armies!!!

I can't believe I did this in the game! Embarassed
And I can't believe that Steve didn't notice!! Mr. Green Mr. Green

And I even can't believe that this might even be topped by worse mistakes, but it can!!! See my monster bash game against Brad!! Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

But thank you for putting this straight for us, Chuck!
Thank God the Wall of Ice mistake wouldn't have changed anything in the game if I wouldn't have done it, and there-fore the magic mistake didn't either! Otherwise we would have had to replay the last few moves again, Steve!

I'm sorry and beg for forgiving, I'm still a beginner Laughing Embarassed Laughing Embarassed
