DREAMATION Post-convention Results
I was pleasantly surprised at the player attendance for the SFR events at DREAMATION this year. I saw a number players that just playing within the last 2 years, plus a few who have played for many years.

All the Dragon Dice™ events used the new 3.0.1 rules, with the partial exception of the Novice events, which used the intermediate-level playmats for defining spells and SAI effects.

I provided new 3.0 "cheat sheets" to each player for each race they played with - which greatly enhanced play and minimized "look up" time.

Here are some specific details about the events:

C0560 Daemon Dice™ Novice Event: Cliff Moore out-wrestled all the other monsters to win this event

C0598 Single Race: Amelia Evelyn Diot won this event with a melee & magic heavy Feral army, and qualified to participate in the final event.

C0669 Constructed Starter (two 18-health armies, each with 1 monster, 1 rare, 3 different uncommons, and one of each common, one Coastland, one Highland, one Flatland, one Swampland, and two different Dragons): Jared Schuller won this event with a Goblin/Swampstalker army, and qualified to participate in the final event.

C0683 Campaigns of Esfah: The team of Frank Warren (Morehl™) and Russ Lockwood (Goblins) won this event.

C0759 Sealed Starter: Ed Miles won the Sealed Starter event with a Feral/Undead 2-Player Starter, and qualified to participate in the final event. (Yes, I still had plenty of the older 2-Player starter sets available.)

C0838 Dragon Dice™ Novice Tournament: This well-attended event was won was Daniel Kim using a Goblin army.

C0839 Battlefest (60 health armies, 3 Dragons, magic items allowed, minor terrains allowed, promotional dice allowed, Battlefield terrains allowed, Dragonkin allowed, white & hybrid dragons allowed, no more than 50% magicians): Jared Schuller won this event with a predominantly Goblin/Swampstalker army with a Gold Medallion and a Unicorn (and no magicians), but since Jared qualified earlier in the Constructed Starter event, Frank Warren qualified to participate in the final event.[/b]

C0917 The 2017 New Jersey State Dragon Dice™ Championship Final Round: I allowed the participants the option to choose their own format (with the default being Constructed). All participants elected "Constructed" (36-health, 50% magicians, 2 dragons or one white dragon, no restrictions on races used, 12-health dragonkin permitted in Summoning Pool, hybrid dragons allowed, magic items allowed, minor terrains allowed, Battlefield terrains allowed). With 4 participants, 3 rounds were played, so each player faced one another.

Jared Schuller defended his title with a 3-0 performance, using a Goblin/Swampstalker army that included a Gold Medallion, Unicorn, Troll, and two Leopard Riders, with Swampstalker cavalry and heavy melee, but no magicians.

Amelia Evelynn Diot came in second with a 2-1 performance and faced Jared in the final round with an all-Feral army with blue-gold hybrid Dragons (which proved deadly to Ed Miles in his match, but harmless to Jared Schuller when they hit the tabletop in the final round).

The final round was not a drawn-out affair, as all the terrain dice rolled 5 or 6 across the board. Both players got an 8th Face. The Feral magicians got out their dragons, but Jared swatted them away without harm as he marched and brawled his way to grabbing the 2nd 8th Face.

I look forward to seeing all the players again at DEXCON (July 5-9, 2017).
