It is unclear from the rules whether the two terrain dice you bring are revealed to the players before or after everyone divides their force into the three initial armies.

Clarification for a newbie?

Thanks,
Jay

The terrains are revealed at the same time as the armies are revealed.

So when you experienced players sit down at the table, is there any discussion about armies beforehand? Or do you just bring a force of your choosing and take your chances?

I ask because the online games seem to be a bit more pre-planned than that. What is typical?

I can't speak for anyone else here, but with my group, it's usually just a grab and build. You might tell your opponent what race(s) you're playing with, but nothing about what type of units are going into the army.

Sometimes we have a format to follow, like no magicians, or using only 1 & 2 health units, etc., but most of the time we just set an army size (36 is our standard), and go from there.

Cheers! Laughing

When playing in tournaments, you never know exactly what your opponent is playing until it is revealed in front of you after setup.

Realize that in tournaments, many players set up behind a screen to make sure the other doesn't know exactly where you placed your units and terrains.

Therefore, you must be prepared to deal with as many armies as possible with your 36 health.
