Excluding test shots,(i.e. dice not offered to the general public) what are the 10 rarest dice in the game with quantities?

Six of the rarest dice offered to the public would be the 10th anniversary masters and Dragonlord...
100 sets were made.(I think that is what I read on the forum)

That would be wrong. I'm not going to say exactly how many were made, but it was more than 100.

Right now, the 22 rarest dice offered to the general public are the Hybrid Dragons. If you don't know what they are, then go to
Special Offers for our Forum Readers forum. If you can't see anything, that's because you have not registered.

Aside from the hybrid dragons, and prototypes not released, which dice are the rarest?

BTW, where does the SFR DL/DM (production and promo) fit in with that listing Will made four years ago (see link above)? And what about the Dragonhunters (production and promo)?

Some of that old post from Will was wrong BTW. Beholders are no more rare than Umber Hulks, Death Nagas, or Coral Giants. The number of times as many Ormyrr out there vs the number of original Frost Ogres is misleading. There were twice as many Swampstalker kickers made as Frostwing or Scalder kickers. But there are many more Swampstalker kickers out there than Frostwing or Scalder As near as I could find, very few Swampstalker kickers were destroyed by WotC. Many Frostwing and Scalder were destroyed. While we know exactly how many of each kicker was made by TSR, we have no idea exactly how many got destroyed. We do know that more Frostwings than Scalders got out into distribution and retail sales simply because they came out first.

As for where the SFR DL/DM and Dragonhunters fit in that chart, it's not easy to say because we don't know how many Frostwing or Scalders got into player's hands. In terms of how many were made, there should be more original Unseelies that SFR DL/DM. However, we simply don't know. So I've figured it out based on some guesses as to how many original Frostwing and Scalders got sold. Only those numbers are guesses, the rest SFR knows pretty much the exact number. Note: there were slightly less Frostwing and Scalder monsters with black ink than the number of SFR kickers made. At the same time, there were slightly more Frostwing and Scalder rares with black ink than the number of SFR kickers made.

So here is a new rarity chart to use:

Unseelie Faerie with black ink
Frost Ogre with yellow ink
Frost Ogre with white ink
Unseelie Faerie with white ink
Inferno with white ink
Magi with white ink
Inferno with black ink
Magi with yellow ink
Dragonhunter (prototypes)
"dark" Ormyrr (in the new starters)
Hybrid Dragons
SFR Dragonlord (promo colors)
SFR Dragonmaster (promo colors)
Will o' Wisp with black ink
Remorhaz with yellow ink
Will o' Wisp with white ink
Remorhaz with white ink
Searer with white ink
Bear Master with white ink
Searer with black ink
Bear Master with yellow ink
Quickling with black ink
Cyrohydra with yellow ink
Quickling with white ink
Cyrohydra with white ink
"dark" Crocosaur
Gold Dragonkin Champion with TSR logo
Dragonne Knight with white ink
Assailer with white ink
Dragonne Knight with black ink
Assailer with yellow ink
"dark" Swamp Giant
Unseelie Faerie (original)
SFR Dragonlord
SFR Dragonmasters (all 5 colors the same number)
White Dragons
Ivory Dragons
Gold Medallions
Frost Ogre (original)
Silver Medallions
Bronze Medallions
Inferno (original)
Magi (original)
All other monsters and rares from Frostwings and Scalders with white or black/yellow ink
All other "dark" Swampstalker rare and monsters
Kings' Die
Dragonlord (TSR)
Dragonslayer
Ormyrr (original)
Dragonhunters

This chart may change in the future if we made more production dice.

I don't see the TSR Dragonmasters on the chart. Any idea where they fit in?

No information on the quantities at all. I suspect they were made at a about the same amount as the Dragonlord, but that's really only a wild guess.

Wow... there are fewer Gold Medallions than there are TSR Frost Ogres?

If you assume that no Frostwing kickers were destroyed then that is certainly true. However, we are not really sure about how many were destroyed. We also know that quite a few more Scalder kickers were destroyed than Frostwing. So those rankings are my best guess.

Why would they destroy the kickers? I just don't get it. Wouldn't it have been better to sell them real cheap, or even give them away at conventions or something?

Not really. There is a cost for storing product. Warehouse space is not free. Rumor has it that they tossed kickers into the garbage to make room for Pukemon... sorry, Pokemon cards. And with the tax laws the way they are, they get a credit for destroying product. You don't get the tax credit if you give it away (but you might get a charity credit if you give away to a 501-c organization). If you sell it for a loss, you may actually get less than the credit. Yes, it's screwy, but that's business in the USA.

The destruction of Dragon Dice™...
into the earth...
hmmmm
sounds like a great story for the UnEarthly.

The Destroyed Dragon Dice™ rise from the elements of the Earth to return to Esfah as the UnEarthly. Cool

This chart has some surprises to me on it. Are there really more TSR Ormyrrs than medallions? Are there really more TSR Ormyrrs than SFR Swampstalker rare units? Rare units are one per pack (or new starter set). That just boggles my mind. I know eventually there will be hope that enough new swampies are produced to change this, but so far, in production terms, there are less swamp stalker rare units than TSR Ormyrrs. Wow.
