Maneuver attempt:

Behemoth - 4 Roar
Mammoth Rider - 4 Melee
Infiltrator - 4 Counter
Bronze Medallion - 4 Sortie
Bronze Medallion - 4 Wayfare

only four. wow.

To keep the game moving along... I'm not gonna risk a minor, so I'll turn it up if I win.

Then, I'm going to attack in melee either way. For those watching me do this, know that I am fully aware that a Fireshadow is not a Phoenix and yet I'm doing this very dangerous action anyway. i.e. I'm doing a thing on purpose, that makes it a risk decision instead of an ignorant one.

Behemoth - 4 Save
Mammoth Rider - 3 Melee
Infiltrator - 5 Maneuver
Bronze Medallion - 4 Wayfare
Bronze Medallion - 4 Wayfare

wow, could it have been a worse roll?

Save against 3 (which can't hurt you anyway, so its just a free roll)

I am a bit embarrassed as you spoiled your intentions on your maneuver, and knowing it I'd choose to not counter-maneuver.

I've not read the following action until now to take a decision knowing what I would know in a game in real life.


now I've read it, my save roll:
sortie
melee
create fireminions
smite.


I'd counterattack:


tsr logo, will bring fireshadow frok DUA
create fireminions
create fireminions
smite.

now if my years in reading games here was worth the time spent, my freshly reborn fireshadow should roll too in this very roll.

here it is:

create fireminions

the total should 4+4+4+4 =16
unless I'm wrong with the newborn, in wich case subtract four

You are correct that the Fireshadow that just came in via the TSR logo should roll. However, the melee attack should read: 4 Smite + 12 melee. The Smite is a special and happens before the save roll. So after taking 4 damage (there goes the other Behemoth!), then Cliff has to roll to save against the 12 damage.

I should have read the smite description better, but was too excited, LOL

No you don't get to target anything with the Smite. It's just that Cliff has to take 4 damage, and the only way he can take 4 damage is to kill the Behemoth since the other 2 units in the army are only 3 health.

well it wasn't double smite but it should be enough unless I get my 1 in 9 roll...

which I didn't.

16-4 = 12 which is enough to kill them twice.

I can't counter attack as I have nothing left at that terrain.

ok,
now I'm at work and can't go on with the game until tonight.
I have one question, though: where do the medallions go now? reserve? out of game? in the vaccum of the internet ?

I had to check the rules, when magic items are dropped, it just says 'discarded'

But the dwarf spell says to target the BUA, so I'll put them there.

There is no way to recover them with the dice I have, so its not a big deal.

Having almost half my army as magic items is a big risk, but one i was willing to take.

Where are you looking in the rules? In the magical items sections it says this:
Rules wrote:
Each unit can only carry one magical item (or artifact) of a color matching the unit. If not enough units in the army match the color of the magical items, the extra four-siders are taken out of play immediately and buried. The owner chooses which items to discard.
