Hi Danilo,
It is really late here so I have to get to bed, but I put together a frostwings 36 point army. I chose my home terrain and proposed Frontier terrain.

so how do we go about doing this board setup on here?

OK, I came here to open a new post, and I've just found your. Fine.

Here's my dice list and armies displacement (for you information, I've created it with DD Inventory - you can find it here: http://sfr-inc.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=4353 - it is also how I'll create the board).

Italy and Japan are quite far away, we'll probably be working when the other one is playing. It's going to be long, but hopefully we'll have some fun.

My horde roll:

Skeletal Steed: 4 maneuveur
Skeletal Steed: 4 save
Skeletal Steed: 4 Trample
wraith: 2 maneuver
gold medallion: logo

total 4 + 4 + 2 = 10

I choose my terrain, you go first.

I roll my two terrains, roll your and take your first turn, I will update the board later.

Home terraion (City): 5 - missile
Frontier Terrain (Standing Stones): 5 - missile


Ah the medallions are 4-sided dice, they all have the same face:

Sortie: Normal (melee, save, or dragon attack)
During a melee attack or melee avoidance roll, Sortie generates melee results

Wayfare: Normal or Special (maneuver); Special (dragon attack)
During a maneuver roll, Wayfare generates maneuver results or allows the magical item and a unit able to carry it to be moved immediately to any other terrain or its reserve area. During the maneuver roll to determine the order of play, Wayfare generates maneuver results. During a dragon attack, Wayfare allows the magical item and a unit able to carry it to be moved immediately to any other terrain or its reserve area.

Flurry: Instant Normal (melee); Normal (save against melee attack); Instant or Normal (dragon attack) During a melee attack or melee avoidance roll, Flurry generates melee results; roll the magical item again and apply the new result as well. During a save roll against a melee attack, Flurry generates save results. During a dragon attack, Flurry generates melee results and roll the magic item again, applying the new result as well or
generates save results.

and the logo face. The effect of the logo depends on the medallion color:

SFR/TSR Logo (Bronze Medallion): Normal (magic action); Unique (non-magic action, save, or non-maneuver avoidance).
During a magic action, generates magic results of any color. During any non-magic action, save roll, or non-maneuver avoidance roll, counts as a Cantrip that can cast any color spell from the spell lists (basic or racial)


SFR/TSR Logo (Gold Medallion): Special (any non-maneuver) During any non-maneuver roll, returns one non-dragonkin buried unit to the DUA or you may immediately bring back up to four health-worth of units from your DUA to the army carrying this medallion

SFR/TSR Logo (Silver Medallion): Special (any non-maneuver) During any non-maneuver roll, returns one buried magical item to the army this medallion is a part of or one buried Dragonkin to the summoning pool.

This should be fun.

Ok, so I rolled my home terrain and got "3 missile"

My turn:
First march
Using my horde army (supposed to be at the Frontier on the board) I wish to maneuver.
My roll:
Wolf Pack #1- ID and roll again = 4
Wolf Pack #2- Rend and roll again =4
Hound Master- ID = 1
Bear Master - 3 maneuvers = 3
Total = 12 maneuvers

Will wait for results to decide my action.
Second March
Home army
No Maneuver
Missile attack:
Assailer -ID = 3
Assaulter - ID =2
Destroyer - one missile = 1
Attacker - ID = 1
Total = 7
Other dice no missile results .. not the best roll

So let me know if you wish to try and stop my maneuver at the Frontier
and I will take my action there.

Do you mean I misplaced your army?
As far as I know the "horde" is the army at your enemy terrain, while campaign is at the frontier. I can switch them, but in this case you should have rolled the single-die army for the horde roll (not that this change much since I won that roll, just FYI).

Do you want me to swap the two armies of yours at the frontier and at my home ?

I think the horde army is the army at the frontier.
The campaign army is the one at the opponent's home battlefield.

I think you can place your horde army at another player's home battlefield if there are more than 2 players (3-4 etc.)

I could be wrong.. I'll post in the rules section just to see what the rule is... now I'm confused.

I meant for that army to be placed in the frontier area.

from the manual:

Horde Army: The army placed at another player’s home terrain and used to determine the order of play at the begin-
ning of the game.

Campaign Army: At the beginning of the game, the army placed at any terrain where you do not already have an army.

(in a two player game this is the frontier)

Another thing: since missile can attack adjacent terrains too, you should specify which of my armies you are attacking.

oh, yeah looks like you got it.

I must have been using ancient rules or something. My gameboard says Horde at the Frontier...

I will have to update my gameboard.

For the missile attack, I was aiming for the army at the same terrain.

I will maneuver the frontier terrain up one to "6 melee"
and for my action melee attack..
(I hope this is a good idea..)

Melee attack results:
Bear master - rend and roll again ID = 7
Wolf pack - rend and roll again = 4
Vindicator - 3 melee icon = 3
hound master -ID = 1
Defender - 3 melee icon = 3
Total melee = 18

wow, that seemed to turn out good.

so my defense roll against melee attack at the frontier:

medallion: logo
vampire: ID - 3 save
vampire: 3 convert
vampire: 3 melee
lich: 3 magic
heucava: 2 melee

with the logo medallion I thought I'd play Blizzard targeting the frontier. I was assuming it could half the melee attack in progress (I thought it may work like that since cantrip - which is what medallion logo is like - resolves before the other dice rolled). But I was wrong (here: http://sfr-inc.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=2958&highlight=blizzard+cantrip )

So I'll launch a Path on my Lich and move it to my army at my home. It will bring the medallion with him

(I hope it works this way, from the manual:

Whenever a unit moves from one terrain to another, it may take one magical item of a matching color with it. This
also applies for moves to or from the reserve area


I read it as you can path a unit away carrying an item with it)

In the end I save 3 of the 18 melee damage, hence I take 15 damage, which is enough to kill everyone else at the frontier...
Of course no counter-attack is possible, I now have three Vampire and one Heucava in the DUA.

Let's sort the missile attack now:

My defense roll:

Medallion: Wayfare
the monsters: 2 melee and 1 maneuver
the common: ID

total 1 save

so of your 7 damage I take 6, this will kill the common (wraith) and 1 monster (Skeletal Steed) I'll use the Undead racial ability for the Skeletal Steed, that is the Stepped Damage, to trade the Skeletal Steed for a Vampire from the DUA.

so after your turn this is how the board looks like:

Last for my turn I will retreat my hound master at "danilo's Home" to the reserves.

Nice save with the medallion.

Don't forget to change the Frontier terrain to 6 on the board (still on 5)
Thanks again for running the board. I'll figure it out..

Me too, I spent most of the day pouring through the rulebook and reference section... trying to absorb it all in.

Looks like we have a good chunk of time where we are both at home. I had the day off though, usually I wouldn't be home until about 2 hours ago (7:30 in the evening).

Ok, time to straighten out a couple of minor problems....

The only place that had the Horde at the Frontier was the old BattleBox rules. Those were never right. But you guys got that straightened out.

Might be a good idea to take your marches one at a time, after the first march, you might want to do something different on the second march.

Target of a missile attack must be declared before the missile attack.

The Bronze medallion can cast any spell or spells that total 4 points or less. I'm glad you figured out that Blizzard would not work. The basic concept is that once results are finalized, nothing can change those results. So Path works just fine, and allows the Lich to escape. And yes, it can carry a magic item with it.

Don't forget to update the terrains when you update the board. The Frontier should be at six.
