I've begun experimenting with Shrinky Dinks for making marker tokens for spells with lasting effects, and have been quite happy with how they turn out for different shapes for each different target type, and in bright colours for each element.

To have a reasonable pile for a 4-player game, my initial thought is to make 6 copies of each spell type that can have multiple castings.

A query for folks with more extensive experience using magic — are there any spells that have a likelihood of being used in greater numbers?

Depends. I usually have at most 3 of any spell. Then I can put them on three different armies. I can't think of any time I've had more than three (and usually one of those is a reserve army). Then I use counters to mark when I cast multiples of the same spell (i.e 4 Watery Doubles).

Some cheap spells could use up to 5 or 6 (watery double, most certainly ash storm, evil eye, maybe stoneskin), some popular spells could go up to 3 (wind walk, transmute rock to mud), as do some of the 'sticky' ones (burning hands, flaming armour), and unpopular but stackable spells (Palsy, night moves, water walking, wind wall) . Expensive ones need only 1, sometimes 2. Alternatively, you could combine the counter with a die, in which case you'll probably need a maximum of 2 for each spell.

Also, Shrinky Dinks are awesome! I'm looking forward to some pictures.

I'd already come around to thinking of doing more for the 2 point spells, and probably for the stickies too.

I'd been pondering making some sort of tokens and then was in the craft store and they had a Shrinky Dink machine marked way down to $15, so I grabbed that. It will also be useful for making tokens for chibi dungeon games like Super Dungeon Explore ^,^

So far, I've been running some tests. The toy oven came with some small pieces of the official plastic — which works much much better than the larger sheets of Brand X that the store had, they didn't have packs of the official plastic. So, I've ordered packs of larger sheets of the good stuff from Amazon. While waiting for that to arrive, I'm running some more colour tests. The little toy oven is great for testing prototypes. When I'm ready to do the full production run, I'll fire up the kitchen oven.

They are awesome indeed — there will be pictures!
