We'll move down to the terrain down to a 4. I just realized that it was 5. The goal was to fire missiles. So I'll leave that as is.

still fighting a cough and fatigue, but feeling better right now.

So, we have that cleared up and you have rolled the missile attack.

You got a cantrip, which must be resolved first. Since it is Amazon and you are at a Swamp, you can cast green or gold. So wall of Ice is perfect.

Now we can count the missile results.
3+2+3+1 = 9

you did it perfect.

so now I will roll my army for saves against 9 damage:
Cannibal - 4 Maneuver
Deadeye - 3 ID
Slingman - 3 Missile
Slingman - 2 Maneuver
Slingman - 2 Save
Pelter - 1 ID
Pelter - 1 Missile
Pelter - 1 Save
Pelter - 1 Maneuver

3+2+1+1 = 7 saves

leaving 2 damage. I will kill a Slingman to account for it.

Now you can take your second march

I'll attempt a Maneuver Roll:



So a whopping 1 Maneuver.

I also rolled 4 Smite. Now, I have frequently found the use of SAIs confusing. That said, some distance from the game perhaps have given me clarity. I believe that the Smites don't count in this instance due to the fact that I am conducting a Maneuver roll. The Smites are only valid during a Special action or Normal action.

You are correct!

Normal icons like missile and melee always generate what they generate, you just don't CARE unless that is what you are rolling for.

Special action icons can generate different things at different times.

Take smite as an example:
Smite: Special (melee attack); Normal (dragon attack or melee avoidance) - During a melee attack, each Smite
result immediately inflicts one point of damage on the defending army or unit; no saves (including those
provided by spells) can stop this damage. During a dragon attack or melee avoidance roll, Smite generates
melee results.

The bolded part is a good reference. It tells you the type of result for each type of roll. Since Maneuver is not listed there (or all or any) then it produces nothing.

Here is my counter maneuver roll:
Cannibal - 4 Swallow
Deadeye - 3 ID
Slingman - 2 Melee
Slingman - 3 Missile
Slingman - 2 Save
Pelter - 1 Missile
Pelter - 1 Missile
Pelter - 1 Missile
Pelter - 1 Maneuver

4 maneuvers which double because I'm a goblin in a swamp.

so it stays at a "3"

I looked this up because I was curious. The rules only state that amazons can not cast magic in reserves, so this would have to mean that the cantrip does nothing in reserves.

at most I could bend the rules to say it generates magic of no color, but there are no 'no color' spells so it wouldn't matter.

Well that was quick. I know nothing about statistics, but I'm pretty sure that was an awful roll.

3 Saves for the one Oracle, but to take maximum damage, both Oracles and the Chimera to DUA.

Since you asked and I have a website to calculate such things

The warriors are 1 in 3 to save, so for both of them to fail is 4 in 9. a little below 50/50.

The two monsters and two oracles collectively have an average of 6.6 saves, but the StdDev is 3.54. so 3.06 is 1 SD below average and puts you on the low side of 76% of all rolls. Unfortionately the high side of that 76% is 10.14. So those dice are just very erratic on save rolls.

However, lets go through the damage example.

I did ten damage. you saved three.

10-3 = 7 damage remaining to resolve.

You must take as much of that 7 damage as you can, which is ONE oracle and ONE of the monsters. If you prefer to kill the Chimera we can.

MY decision is how long do I think I can last before you start turning me to stone... I'll think about that while you confirm your damage.
