So move it up to 2.

So... 0 Confused

BUT I did get an Illusion, so thats cool. I'll select my only army on the board.

Illusion: Delayed Special (any action) - During any action, immediately choose any of your armies. Until the beginning of your next turn, this army cannot be targeted by any missile or enemy magic effect.

Cannot do missile action because of illusion right?
Hopefully I can take the brunt of the first melee attack.
I won't oppose you maneuvering on your turn.
I think they are defensively strong enough.. (talking myself into it.)

Correct on illusion.

I'll move it up to 4 for the melee! I am slightly nervous due to the fact you have those 10 automatic saves there from those dragonkin. That could put a damper on my plans.

Lets see what happens - Melee Attack:
Horseman - 1 Melee
Mammoth Rider - 3 Trample
Mammoth Rider - 3 Save
Troll - 4 Regenerate
Ambusher - 3 Melee
Ambusher - 2 Save
Beholder - 2 Flame
Dragonne Knight - 2 Save
Assailer - 3 ID
Dispatcher - 2 Fly
Dispatcher - 2 Fly
Unicorn - 4 Dispel Magic

So 10 total. 4 regenerate will bring back my only dead unit, the dragonne knight!

Adding his roll:
Dragonne Knight - 3 ID

Flame: Special (melee attack) During a melee attack, choose up to two health-worth of units in the defending army to be immediately killed and buried with no save possible.

Flame will kill a Death Trogā„¢ Devotee.

So 13 to save against.

save roll:
Devotee goes to the buried area.

bash - 4 save + damage back against normal melee result
so against the ambusher 4 damage, roll him to save.

dragonkin champ 4 auto save
(others rolled bellies..)
1 save, 2 ID, 3 ID, 2 save, 3 fly, 1 save
Total = 20

counter attack roll:
Dragonkin champ breath - 4 health, no save I choose the troll

4 smite- no saves (I think you choose who gets killed)

4 melee
3 melee
3 ID
2 melee
2 melee
1 melee
1 melee
Total (normal melee) = 16 normal + 4 no save you choose
and Troll dead from breath weapon.

So you can at most get 3 saves and 3 damage. The Ambusher has to save against 3. Still plenty of saves, but I wanted to make sure you did it right.

As for the attack, the breath is correct, toasted Troll, my favorite! Smite does four damage, that and the breath happen BEFORE the save roll, so there are suddenly 8 health less units to roll for saves. The defender does indeed get to pick which four health are dead.

I got it. I didn't read that right. I thought it was equal to the defending units health for some reason.
So 3, because he did 3 melee.

Oh, yea, I forgot one other point. The Ambusher is rolled before the army roll as well. So he could be down 10 health before rolling for saves....

Ok, just to recap:

- roll the ambusher to save against 3 damage

then in my counter attack it was:

- Dragonkin breath kills Troll
- choose 4hp to die from smite

then roll to save against 16 melee damage

4 health to kill from smite
1 horseman and the assailer

Roll to save vs 16 (I am so screwed Laughing )

Mammoth Rider - 3 ID
Mammoth Rider - 3 Melee
Ambusher - 2 Missile
Beholder - 4 Charm
Dragonne Knight - 2 Save
Dispatcher - 2 Fly
Dispatcher - 3 Missile
Unicorn - 4 Counter

So... 7 saves and 4 counter.

So I save 11, and take 5 damage.

I will lose a dispatcher and a mammoth rider.

Counter: Normal (melee, save, and dragon attack); Special and Normal (save against melee attack) - During a melee attack or melee avoidance roll, Counter generates melee results. During a save roll, Counter generates save results. During a save roll in a melee attack, Counter immediately generates both save results and melee results upon the attacking army or unit. Only magical saves protect against this damage. During a dragon attack, Counter generates save and melee results.

Your army takes 4 points of damage.

Yep, the Spellbinder must be rolled if it is brought into the army before results are final. So 19 melee.

This will probably be the final round, I don't think I will save this.

kill ambusher and dispatcher for the smite

Mammoth Rider - 3 ID
Beholder - 4 Stone
Dragonne Knight - 3 ID
Dragonne Knight - 2 Melee
Unicorn - 4 Trample

so 6 saved.

13 damage:
everything dead except for the beholder.

I'm gonna call the game at that, you won for sure. There is no chance for me to recover at this point. (Unless you really want to go full attrition here...)

Good game. Care for a tie breaker?
