Regenerate doesn't work on a maneuver roll, so Minor Death goes back to DUA (he knows the way Smile ).

(roll) Fly on both Sprite Swarms and both Fireshadows. Since Fly is an SAI, it's not affected by the Transmute Rock to Muds. 16*2=32 maneuver results.

Maneuver mishappened so I'll try to give you some steel to chew on Cool !
Melee attack!! --> Plague on Minor Death Twisted Evil , Smother on Shambler, Trample on Swamp Giant, Fireshadow ID, and 8 melee from Harpies and other Fireshadow Razz .

Your Sprite Swarm is plagued.
And I think your Darktree urgently needs a Smother!
Then 16 melee incoming.

Sprite Swarm is killed, but Troll saves the day.
Darktree isn't fast enough, so it also gets killed.
(roll) Sprite Swarm ID (reroll) nothing useful, Troll ID, Troll save, Fireshadow Fly and Fireshadow Create Fireminions. Using Flashfire to reroll the Troll that rolled its ID (reroll) Regenerate brings back Wolf Pack (roll) nothing useful. So, 16*2=32 save results.

(counter-attack roll) Howl from Wolf Pack, Trample from Coral Giant, ID from Umber Hulk, melee from Troll and Fireshadow. Using Flashfire to reroll Cryohydra (roll) nothing. 16 melee results back at you.

No, that means the Troll rolled a save result, thus ending the Plague. Sorry if that was unclear, I was just interjecting some fun in the description of what happened.

OK, back to the game:

Resolving your counter attack:
Rolling for saves: --> Regenerate on Troll again, bringing back Minor Death (rolling) --> melee, nothing useful!
Normal saves on Shambler, Harpies and 2nd Minor Death, Create Fireminions on Fireshadow = 16 - 4 (Howl) + 1 (Stoneskin). = total of 13 saves and 3 damage points which are not enough to kill a monster (but that was close!)

Dunno what to do now! Rolling Eyes
Retreat? Stay put?? Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

::Half an hour later:: I RETREAT!!!
Pulling back my entire Horde into Reserves!

Roll for magic (roll) IDs on Wolf Pack and Umber Hulk, Cantrip on both Fireshadows, Regenerate on Troll. (reroll Wolf Pack) nothing useful. Regenerate brings back Owl-folk (roll) nothing useful. Ok, using Wolf Pack ID and 6 points of Firewalker magic to summon two of my blue dragons to your home terrain. Using remaining 2 points of Firewalker magic and Umber Hulk ID to cast 3 Ashstorms on your home terrain.

I end my turn.

Resolving Dragon attack: --> Breath first: I choose my Phoenix to roll for saves (the fifth point can be ignored, it wouldn't kill a monster, right?)
Phoenix rolls Rise from the Ashes!

Rolling army for saves against the Claw attack: --> Rise from the Ashes again = 4 - 3 from Ashstorms = 1
5 Casualties, I loose my Phoenix but roll it (hoping for a Rise again)--> Nope! Phoenix is killed!

1st March:
Rolling Reserves for magic: --> Oh great! NIL! But at least I got a Regenerate again, bringing back my Harpies (rolling) --> nothing!

Wow great turn! Neutral
And nothing left to do with my Home!

Well, Moving all Reserves to my home terrain then!
I end my turn!

Dang! Just noticed a big mistake of mine! During setup of my army I decided to use green Wyrms but I posted blue wyrms (which were my first idea)!
That's my second setup mistake in this game!!! Sad Sad (already noticed at the beginning of the game that I posted a Swampie Giant instead of Beast!! Sad )

Well, you learn from mistakes! Embarassed

Resolving Dragon Attack:
--> Cantrip on Fireshadow: I cast Wall of Ice on my Home army (green by Standing Stones) = + 3 Saves
--> Rolled saves on Troll, Minor Death and maneuver converted to saves from Swamp Giant (racial ability) = 12-3 (ashstorms) =9*2(8th) =18+3 (Wall of ice)=21 ( I know that this formula is mathematically not correct but it shows the order of applying the modifyers! Laughing Laughing ).
6 damage points, Minor Death knows the way!! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil
--> Normal melee from Troll, Death Naga, Fireshadow, Harpies, Minor death = 20 hits, killing 2 dragons.

1st March:
Rolling Home army for magic: --> Regenerate on Troll, bringing back Minor Death (rolling --> ID), magic on Death Naga, Troll ID, Create Fireminions on Fireshadow = 16-3 (ashstorms)= 13! Troll ID doubled = 17 total!

Using Path to move both Minor Deaths to your Home! With remaining 9 points I summon 3 gold Dragontroops to my Home.

2nd March:
Melee attack on your home army: --> 1 Plague (at least I got one! Lucky enough! Smile Twisted Evil) and 1 Slay.
I choose your Owl Folk to be plagued and the Slay targets your Cryohydra.

I resolve dragon attack: Breath first, I choose the Fireshadow to save but it doesn't. Fireshadow leaves to take a little nap at the DUA! Laughing

Rolling for saves. --> Both Harpies roll Fly, both Trolls roll shields, Create Fireminions on Fireshadow plus three automatic saves from Dragonkin = 19, saves doubled (except automatics) by 8th =35.
Rolled Trample on Swampie Giant, but won't kill a dragon.

1st March:
Rolling Home army for magic: --> Shambler ID, Swamp Giant ID, Harpies ID (re-rolled nothing useful), magic on Death Naga and Regenerate on one Troll, bringing back Fireshadow (roll --> C. Fireminons).

As we say in German: "I put it all on one card", meaning that I go for all or nothing now! I guess a chance of 70% to win this mean tactic, now let's see!

I divide my magic points as follows:
Swamp Giant 2green, 2 black ID doubled = 4 green, 2 black
Minions = 1 green, 3 gold (via Standing Stones)
Shambler's +Harpies' IDs doubled = 16 gold
Naga magic = 4 gold
Total: 5 green, 23 gold, 2 black

I cast in following order:
3 x Transmute Rock to Mud on your home terrain = -15 gold, rest 8 gold
Spirit Furnace = -4 gold, rest: 4 gold, = + 40 black (I bury both Minor Deaths, both Gorgons and the Phoenix (rolling Phoenix: Rise! Phoenix stays in the DUA!)
Question: I guess that if my Phoenix rolls Rise from the Ashes and resists burial, then I don't get the black magic points, right?? Rules also say "...then roll the unit..." which means I cannot refuse to roll it, right???
In that case I would have to reduce the black magic to 34 and that would only be 11 Palsy spells! Well, that reduces the percentage of winning drasticly! Sad

14 x (11 x) Palsy on your Home army = -42 (-33) black
Flash Flood on your home terrain, trying to turn it down on 7, melee = -5 green
Using remaining 4 gold to move a Fireshadow to your home terrain.

Then 2nd March follows:
Attempting Maneuver at your home terrain: --> Fireshadow rolls melee = ZERO maneuvers.

Trample won't kill a dragon anyway under the effects of Blue Dragon Breath. Only SAIs that count as saves AND melee/missile will (such as counter, volley, etc).

Um, remember Blue Dragon Breath? You can't roll for magic.

As far as Spirit Furnace is concerned:
If the Phoenix rolls Rise from the Ashes, then no, you cannot count it as black magic because it was not buried. Acording to the wording, rolling the Phoenix is mandatory because the word "may" is not in the SAI description. If the Phoenex rolls Rise from the Ashes, it would go to your reserve area, not stay in the DUA.

Now that we've got that straightened out, would you like to redo your turn?

I just thought of this, but when you resolved the dragon breath, in addition to the Fireshadow you needed to take a Dragonkin unit too (because you have to take as much as possible). So, take one of your Dragonkin and roll it to see if it saves against the breath (which it probably will). Are we both tired or what this game? Confused

1st march rolling for magic (roll) Fireshadow ID and Sprite Swarm magic. Summon another blue dragon to your home terrain and a wind walk on my home army.

I end my turn.

Dragon Attack! (roll) Claws, Claws, Tail (reroll) Tail (reroll) Tail (reroll) Tail (reroll) Claws. Total of 30 damage points at your army.

The only problem is that I have to cope with a lot of new things. This is maybe the third game (or fourth?) with Dragonkin, I've never played all those monsters except a few and I never had to re-read the rules as often as in this game!! SAI's, SAI's, SAI's, different resolving orders etc etc....
But well, that trains!! Laughing Laughing

BTW, the Dragonkin does not save! One Troop less now!

Resolving Dragon attack: --> Troll ID, Create Fireminions, Fly on Harpies and shields on Shambler = 16 saves

Trample on Giant and 12 melee from Troll, Shambler and Harpies = 16

1 Dragon killed.
Giant, Naga and Shambler killed! 2 Kin Troops killed!

Pulling all back into reserves!
Terrain goes down to 7.
I'm done

Note that since all your saves came from a SAI (Rise from the Ashes), the spells cannot affect your results. So you got 4 saves, and ignore the other point.
