Hello all local reps and players,
I know many of you have been requesting how to run tournaments. SFR has worked on the following system and hopes you all will
embrace it and further the game by using it. To begin, I wanted a system that would be easy to keep track of and easy for the players to
understand. That being said the following is the SFR tournament system.
1. For a tournament to be officially sanctioned, we need an e-mail stating the time, place, and format of the tournament at least two weeks
in advance of the tournament. (Eventually we want to have a tournament listing on the web site.)
2. You can only have one officially sanctioned tournament per month. This does not mean you can not run more tournaments, just that
players will earn points only from one tournament per month.
3. The system will be based on points earned in tournaments. This is based on the alpha format for points earned, therefore a person that
wins a multiplayer game in an alpha tournament will earn 3 points. A player that wins a one on one match in either alpha or beta format will
earn 2 points.
4. The local rep will be responsible for keeping track of point accumulation during the
tournament and then reporting these results on the database.
(Until the database is finished, if you run a tournament, please e-mail the results directly to me,
) We are working on a web based
database for submission of results which should be up in the near future.
As players play in tournaments and earn points, they will advance through levels that will equate their experience level. The following is the
point distribution for these levels.
| Novice |
0-49 |
| Beginner |
50-124 |
| Intermediate |
125-224 |
| Advanced |
225-349 |
| Expert |
350-424* |
| Pro |
425+* |
* Note that the Expert and Pro levels are marked. This means that once a player has attained the expert level, they can only gain points by
playing major tournaments. This truly tests the players skill by earning points at regional, national, and world tournaments. Also, lower level
players can gain more points by playing in a national or world tournament, 2X the normal points earned. Once the player attains the Pro
status, they will be moved over to a skill based system to rank them, something similar to the chess system for ranking.
This is the basic scheme for advancing in level. There will be rewards for the players as they advance. We are currently working on this
reward system now. I can say that for attaining Expert and Pro status, the player will
receive an exclusive die from SFR Inc., made only for players that attain this level. We will have other
rewards, but details are not filled out yet.
So, start running tournaments and getting players involved. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know.
