There are really members who do things like this? Wow, where CAN they be found? I'd like to meet people like this. _________________ Steve "DDice" Braun

BTW, CHUCK, DID YOU KNOW THAT GERMANY CONSISTS OF SEVERAL STATES; EACH WITH AN OWN FLAG????
Don't say I started it!
And our Cities have own flags, too!
And no, I don't have a deal with Steve and Joe to keep you busy !
......although.....if I think about that.....Steve! Joe! _________________

OK, I just enabled posting ranks. The numbers for the ranks not will change with time, but this is what they are right now:
| minimum posts | rank name | | 10000 | dragon | | 5000 | monster | | 1000 | rare | | 500 | uncommon | | 100 | common | | 50 | DUA | | 5 | BUA |

And I also added a new function called "Table". The tags are simple:
| Code: | [table] starts a new table
[mrow] starts a highlighted row
[row] starts a new row
[row color=######] starts a new row with a HTML color code
[col] makes a new column
[col color=######] makes a new column with a HTML color code
[/table] ends the table

Will we someday get an appropriate icon to go with it (at least those icons with dice titles)? _________________ Steve "DDice" Braun

And right now there are only two uncommons, yet somehow, given who those are, it seems appropriate... _________________ Steve "DDice" Braun

Hmmmm....how about ranks based on Dragon icons?
Treasure->Belly->......->Breath
Or Magic->Missile->Melee->Temple->City->Tower->Standing Stones?
I'll be honest....this post was just to pad my total. At current pacing, only 80 days to monster! [/table] |

Something I wanted to suggest for a while now:
How about offering a sort of "note pad" to each member? One could make short notes for yourself like
deputyfive, first name "xxx", collects "xxx", looks for "xxx", etc.
I personally like to call the people by their first names (at least in priv. mess.) and it's hard to keep ALL the names etc. in mind, especially with the members who don't post very often.
It would be kinda written memory which could be placed in the "private messages" section!?!? Not for public use, of course! _________________

Do you really want to break hearts by changing the numbers, therefore members loosing their rank 'cause the numbers relevant for their actual rank went up??
How about just adding further ranks? I consider a dragon higher than a monster (Dragon = 1000 pts).
You could even subdivide that by using deputyfive's idea, leading even further up (point-wise)
Furthermore there's Promos (1500 pts), Protos (2000 pts), and last but not least Unpolished, (and so on?). Guess that'll be enough to keep the forum members busy for a while without disappointing them by "downgrading" their ranks which they have fiercely ( ) fought for!
Am I taking this too serious?
Well, I've been in the army for twelve years (loooong, loooong ago), so I'm kinda allergic to "downgrading" _________________

OK, I've updated the numbers... And the ranks will never change.
And Steve & Joe, this is not a challenge to just go and inflate your posts. I can cap your post total if I feel you are abusing the forum. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

I am hurt by this accusation and deeply wounded that such a thing would even be thought of us.
Then again, I'm not totally surprised either.

I could really run with this, but I've heard it said that discretion is the better part of valor. I'm just not up to being banned again. _________________ The Maj

Thank you so "grabwuk" much, Your Highness!
Just returned from victorious battle (DD PC!) and immediately received reward!
My unworthy soul can hardly cope with this honorable acknowledgment!
I'm just about loosing my COMMON (!) sense!
What's that itching all over my body?? Must be my allergy!!! _________________

I consider an "unpolished" as very rare and valuable!
Although I'm not sure anymore if it deserves him right anymore!
Steve, Joe! Are you sure that you haven't mixed up the roles in that described scene down in the torture dungeon "once upon a forum"? _________________

And here I thought I'd be an online Don Quixote; every time I made it to the top rank, or got within reaching distance, it would be changed.
How disappointing to know that I could achieve the top status at anything. |

**SIGH**
OK, I finally got over it (had to slay a few Coral Elves in rage, that made me feel better! Will go and tell my tribe fellow Cghuck )
At least I won't suffer from being "downgraded" when having reached a higher Level!
Or........oh no!.......Your Highness!......No.........think it over again!.....oh no, you won't, will you?........ **glurp**
If just this itching would stop!!! _________________

I could understand this warning if we artificially inflated our post totals, by doing things like counting down to the next significant post number for no good reason at all, but our post totals are organically (or, if you prefer, intrinsically) inflated simply by our pursuit of a given subject to its logical (or, in some cases, illogical) conclusion.
As for capping our post totals, it's a rare day that either of us exceeds 8-10 posts. Or can you cap us while giving everyone else an unlimited number of posts? And, honestly, have we really abused our posting privileges that much, giving the DD community nothing in return for our use of bandwidth? (And no, Chuck, I won't concede that the cross-topic posting that you deleted was abusive, even though we'll never do it again. In fact, it will become a legend on the forum-the "lost cross-topic posts of Steve & Joe.") _________________ Steve "DDice" Braun
