Although extras are nice I'd rather trade for something I don't have.

Out of the normal units the only ultra-rares I don't have are the Frost Ogre and the Unseelie Faerie.

The rare monsters I'm missing are the Coral Giant, Death Naga, Beholder, Chimera, Bear Folk, Crocosaur, Remorhaz and Wil 'o Wisp.

I'm not interested in Dragons, Dragonkin, Eladrim or any type of magic item.

My preference would be for an Unseelie Faerie as the Scalders rank near the top of my favorite race to play (the few friends I've converted to the game all seem to like the Firewalkers but I could never get into them).

I understand that the actual value of any die depends on how badly you want/need it. An ultra-rare (or rare) from a race you have no intention of playing/collecting is a lot less valuable than one from a race you play often.

I'm a gamer, not a collector, so to me there's no value difference between an original and a reprint to me.

Thanks for reading.

isn't that everyone's preference?

Are you offering a one to one trade for the Magi? You won't get that for a fairy or an ogre, but I might be able to do some of the older rare monsters.

When I first posted I was unaware of the difference in the Scalder/Frostwing set distribution and molds as compared to the others. I wasn't impying any specific other than that; merely throwing out the information and seeing what I heard back.

Unfortunately, the game is not available in my area - at all. And there's only one person trying to generate interest in the game, and that's me. So, in a way, I've had to become a partial collector so that if a person shows an interest in a race, I can field an interesting selection of dice. I've had trouble doing that with the Scalders and Frostwings. Normally, I would just give away the ridiculous number of Yeti that I got in my set just to draw interest but I find that I actually have to kill interest in those two races. To the casual and/or generalist gamer those kind of extreme and absurd rarity levels are huge turnoffs. It reminds me of WizKids(TM) MechWarrior game where the figs were Common, Uncommon and then five different levels of rare. Collecting was a nightmare and they wonder why the game failed.

Much as I enjoy trying to ply the game I'm beginning to empathise with Sisyphus trying to push the boulder uphill.

I was under the impression that the Magi was extremely rare (if that's wrong then I regret ever bringing it up) but I'm certainly interested in picking up any of the older monsters. The only older rare monsters I have (older meaning anything from the starter set packs) is the Umber Hulk, Carrion Crawler and Dracolisk (ultra-rare). But rarity levels and percentages are really only guidelines; I don't know what a Magi is worth to you. Make me an offer.

Thanks for reading.

I agree the rarity of those two races was a mistake that TSR made, but you notice they are no longer around.

I'll PM you in a few days after I check my levels of older monsters and magi. I'm not even sure if I need one.

Same, if it hasn't been traded yet I'd like to get in line.
