Me and a buddy of mine have been trying to come up with a way to incorporate the cthulhu dice in dragon dice. Last time we played, we went for you have to cast 20 magic twice in a row. Then when rolling cthulhu it acts like a dragon.
cthulhu face = 40 points of damage
tentacle = 25 points of damage
eldar sign = armies at battlefield get to revive 1 dead unit
yellow sign = cthulhu only takes 20 points to kill
Anyone got some suggestions? |

It's just one dice. I picked it up a while back at a comic book store. Here is a link

the dice looks like it fits into dragon dice |

OMG I’ve got this in my closet! Our FLGS sold these out once and never ordered them again. Its just a fun simple game. All you need it the die and some glass beads and you’ve got a pretty fun time.
I am going to try that out just for fun. _________________

Don't forget that after an army performs it's combination roll in a Cthulu/Dragon attack, all surviving units go insane. Game over. _________________ Rep (director) |

| yeah we were trying to come up with some rule for loose sanity action, like the armies turn on themselves, or they all become part of cthulhu's army of cultists. |

I've got a cthulhu die myself, and if I had a group to play with I'd try it some day. I'd make the cthulhu a bit more subtle. Instead of having it deal massive amounts of damage, have it gain control of some amount of health each time it attacks (say, 2 or 3 health per tentacle result or 1 die if none below 3 or 4 health remain, for example). These dice then join the cthulhu, are rolled at each attack (in which saves produce more 'autosaves', melee/ranged deals damage, and all SAI's convert more dice). 12 magic, 10 health, 10 autosaves...

We here have been rolling around the idea that something in game (not sure what yet) draws Cthulhu to a terrain. On each players turn they roll the Cthulhu die.
Yellow = 1 Health worth of units roll a sanity check!
Tentacle = 3 Health worth of units roll a sanity check!
Elder = Promote 5 health worth of units.
Eye = Choose one of the other results!
Cthulhu = All units in both players army roll a sanity check!
(Sanity check = Unit roll a save or dies! Dead unit to the DUA...)
Anyway were having fun with your idea, thanks. _________________

look under All Components :
You'll see that the maneuvers look like LE maneuvers.
Some Chaos looking stuff as well...
perhaps these dice could integrate with the "Cthulhu" DD variation. |

I think this is an interesting idea. They're both steve Jackson games too, I tend to enjoy Munchkin and such. I am sure its a fun game.
Yeah perhaps have an army trying to summon or raise cthulu. Hell make a campaign ! Set scenarios for both players to bring armies in. One army trying to stop the other army from summoning Cth. |

The madness would be easy. After the combination roll, like the wing on a drake, the army runs to reserves. _________________ Will

I love anything Cthulhuian.
I'll definately incorporate this in DD somehow. Gotta build some armies first. Still waitin' on my order so I can start some trades. <grumble> Darn Time/Spatial differential is not on the same quotient as I am. <deep>. _________________ "Reality isn't relevant, perception is everything." |

In the Mythos, the yellow sign is Hastur's symbol
He is chaos, anarchy and madness personified
I would suggest that the target army rolls an attack and defence on itself at the same time, ignoring all ID icons (you are not yourself) and tallies the damage
Could be nothing - could be really bad _________________ Collection: 1008 dice

I'm hard pressed to think of a story in which Cthulhu takes the battlefield, but I do love the idea of summoning up a monster like that. I don't really like the idea of actually fighting Cthulhu, it doesn't seem to fit with the mythos.
Some strong mythos themes are madness and transformation. I like the idea posted above of causing an army to turn on itself, as well as causing units to flee and resurrect. Perhaps this:
Chthulhu face: army attacks itself
Tentacle: causes 5 damage to army
Yellow Sign: causes 5 health worth of units to flee to reserves
Elder Sign: recruit 5 health worth of units - from another player's DUA
Eye: promote 5 health worth of units - from another player's DUA
Of course, to truly keep in theme one would recruit and promote from a pool of Feral, Undead, or Treefolk to represent transformation into chthonic entities.
Cthulhu could be summoned like a dragon, but never actually fought. It would take 10 points of magic to banish him.
I think I've got one of these lurking in my forgotten dice.... fhtagn! |
