Here is my response to the Flash Flood first:

Results: 8 maneuvers (if the ash storm is in effect immediately then it would be 7 maneuvers)

Then my response to the 3 incoming missiles

Results: 4 saves

At my home terrain:
Unfortunately I roll 0 maneuvers.

A question about Smite, how do I deal with this damage? Do I have to put the 3 smite on a unit with 3 health? Or can I also put to to the DragonLord without actually harming him?

You must take as many points as possible of the Smite and actually kill units up to that much. So a 3-point Smite in this case means you have to kill the rare unit. Killing 2 commons is not enough.

Actually, your maneuver-avoidance roll is 6 maneuvers, as the modifiers are subtract, then double. I'm glad I decided to cast that ash storm as you got some pretty decent rolls with that army.

Ok, the rest rolls for saves then.


Results: 2 saves only

Dragonlord and theurgists die.

With this results I resign the game.

It was a real quick one and again very nice to see some combinations work.

Thanks for the nice match. Too bad it was over so quickly. The opening rolls were a murder for your army though, and pretty ideal for me. I planned for putting up the krakatoa-trap on my home, but getting the first turn and being able to cast it on that first turn was better than I could have wished. An alternative plan was to allow you to get an 8th face, cast Call Water on it, and then use the krakatoa trap (with some ash storms).

Turning your home to a 7 was a pretty big mistake though, one that could have turned out pretty ugly. I hugely underestimated the double maneuvers that the dwarves produce. With some Summon Dragon icons from the staff, this match could have taken an whole different direction. Still, losing 17 health on the first turn is pretty harsh.

A different approach you could have tried is abandoning the 8th-face, using the magic you got on your turn to return as much mages (and the gargoyle) back to life before I could bury them. Then redeploy them on the frontier (my casters we there anyways) and hope for the best. You'd be one 8th face behind in score, but at least you'd have some of your force back. Besides, it would still have taken me 3 or so turns to get another 8th, giving you a bit of leeway.

Anyways, I really enjoyed these 3 battles, and I look forward to playing more. I've already got some ideas for new armies for new games, but I'll save those for after Iceland.
