Shizzle and I are signed up for the Team tourney at Gen Con. I'd like to try that out with 2 other players. It would have to be players that post on a fairly consistent basis. I've played enough games with people that don't post for weeks, months and it's not worth it.

Anybody up for it? I believe it's a sealed event, so I'd like to copy that the best we can as well.

Nice, I'm up for it! What are the rules for the multiplayer though? Kind of like a free for all where 2 players simply do not attack each other? And what races will be available?

4.1.11. Team Tournament
Here, a game is played between two teams of two players each. In determining the order of play, the player with the highest horde roll decides if he or she wants to go first or select the frontier terrain. If that player decides to go first, the player on the opposing team that had the highest horde roll would go second, then alternate players from both teams for third and fourth. If the player with the highest horde roll decides to choose the frontier terrain, then he or she would go second and the player on the opposing team that had the highest horde roll would go first. Again, alternate players from both teams for third and fourth. Magic is also different than standard rules. You may throw friendly spells on your partner’s armies and units as if they were your own. If a spell would normally bring components into your army, instead they join your partner’s army at that terrain (such spells cannot be cast in reserves). If your partner does not have an army at that terrain, then those units form a new army. You may not cast any spells on your partner's army/units/components that are hostile (i.e. spells you can't cast on yourself).

We've played a few times at our game nights, but I'm still a bit unclear on a few things so that's why I want to run a play through (with chuck watching) to make sure we are doing things correctly. As far as races available, I'm under the impression they all are (except perhaps Eldarim)

I'm interested. I've never played this manner of team format, which sounds more like a "tag-team" match.

I haven't played "Team" games much, but the ones I did were more like one-on-one games with both players of a side going at the same time (one calling the First March, the other calling the Second March, but both players rolling their own dice at the same location for the maneuver and action). Each player on a side used a different race, so I guess you could also call this manner of playing an "Alliance Match".

So I'm assuming each player gets 2 kickers (30 health) + 2 random dragons and terrains. Cliff, is that correct?

I got this from cliif in the gen con thread.

Its not kickers, it is a two-player starter. So the options will be ud/fe and am/ss and the 'new without box' references the possiblity of using the sealed polybags of other races if I find any.

I expect the specific starter will be random for each player.

I don't really want us to just have the 2 choices so is everybody OK if I go with 2 random kickers for each person + 2 random terrains and dragons? Making it a 30 point game.

Do we have any choice of what races the kickers would be - or is this a rotating selection from among 8 random kickers?

One option I'll throw out for consideration is to have each player choose two candidate kickers, list the dice in each kicker, then rotate selecting the kickers. Same with dragons (but start with the 2nd player), and terrains (but start with 3rd player). Then determine the teams (let 4th player choose his partner).

I was just going to make it all random (since that's what it looks like it's going to be for gen con).

I'll use the online product simulator and random number generator (I will include all races except eldarim). I was going to wait til Thur and have Shizzle be an "eye" witness so nobody says hey how did MAtthias get a unicorn in his random draw... Very Happy
