After a few games I've noticed that Dragonkin are important. Maybe new starters should include a C, UC, and R die. It might help a new player. A minor? an Item? Some extra random die maybe? To give novice player's an idea of what else they may like.
Just a thought.
Needs Swamp Stalkers...

Would that interest you? maybe just as a stopgap? |
... Would be cool; could make own starters w/ kickers |

Also looks like a good way to do Sealed Games. One Bag and two kickers. _________________ Proceed on your way to oblivion... |

| They may be important, but it's a lot of unnecessary and complicated rules for a beginner. If dkin are included in starters, they're going to have to play with them and learn how to use them, which is too much for them when their learning the game. |

Good point Dolus, but since I started with them, I can't see playing without them. I may not use them in a particular game but they're terrific for helping with dragons.

You'd hate to have someone buy just a bag and forget the kickers - they couldn't play! If confusion was avoided it could work.
but if... If it were up to me I'd like to see these combo starters:
Lava E. v. Scalders
Coral E. v. Treefolk
Goblin v. Swamp Stalker
Dwarf v. Feral
Amazon v. Undead
Fire W. V. Frost W.
For some you'd want to be sure certain terrains and/ dragon colors were included but those are my pics.

Dragon Kin are very important, but I think, only at higher levels. For beginners, not too much. Keep the starter pack simple.
Whenever I play, I ask my opponent, a) Dragon Kin - yes or no? b) Dragons - Hybrid or Elemental? c) Terrains - Standard or Special? I try to make it an opportunity to teach. This way, I can explain deeper levels of the game if they choose.
