It's been too long since I played a game (online or IRL). Anybody up for one? Format doesn't matter to me. Though I would like to try something with a simplified spell list if somebody was up for a bit of custom stuff, but I'm happy with any type of game.

I'm always up for a game, though perhaps I should wait if anyone else wants to play as well. I've practically been living in the on-line games section recently.

Here's the proposed list. Please feel free to add some input. I'm not sure I like Water Walking for the Scalders Green spell so any thoughts on that would be great. Also the only change with Eldarim is instead of rise, it's a promotion spell only, just like their dkin promote spell. Oh and the Amazons are similar to eldarim where it's just got to be all the same color.

I highly recommend adding all the resurrection spells, as this list places a very tough restriction on all non-blue mages (they are basically not worthwhile compared to a golden medallion or troll). Also: no summoning of dragons?

If nobody has come along to claim this game by this evening I'll go ahead and claim it as mine Smile.

Dragons and Dragon kin are always a given, I just forgot to put that down. I've had similar thought about the revive spells but wanted to give each color different attributes. But I totally see your point. We don't have to use the list if you don't want. It's very much a work in progress. I'm getting involved in a new game group in town and want to show off dragon dice so I'm working on simplifying it a bit for them (at least at first) and these are just some ideas I've had.

I believe there was an alternative setting to magic called 'simple magic' which basically let you revive stuff for 3, cast dragons for 7 and perhaps shoot stuff for 4 (I'm not sure and can't seem to find it). Alternatively, you could just drop all the racial spells if you want to start easy.

There are only a few balancing issues at the moment, most of it seems pretty decent. The biggest deviations are probably the firewalkers and the dwarves. Firewalkers are very strong as they've got blue resurrectional magic, very strong direct damage and probably the best control spell in dancing lights. The dwarves are pretty much stuck with a spell that didn't make sense from the beginning: reforge item. You usually lose items when you lose guys, but you can't bring back guys while you can bring back items. If you go for the item route, you could be left with a surplus of items. While the spell is fitting themwise, it seems like a very situationally useful spell. Perhaps give firewalkers flashfire and move the dancing lights over to the dwarves?

Still, I will pick up the challenge for this list. Changing it beforehand wouldn't be testing it anyways. I'll try some scalder mages as they seem on the mid-to-lowish-end of the power spectrum (and I like them a lot). I'll post the board and my army later this evening.

(Great minds think alike) I thought the same about both the Dwarves and Firewalkers, but what I kept coming back to is the poor icon distribution on the Firewalkers (except the mages) means they will lose in most other situations. I didn't like reforge item, but I was like eh, that's pretty dwarvish. I do like your suggested changes.

I do like the revive spells for 3. I may mess with that a bit and throw it in with the dragon / kin and trade breath of life out for hailstorm or something similar. Thanks for the input!! My first meeting is this Sat with the new group.
