In hindsight, I think this was the largest mistake (beyond construction). I could have simply gone all-in at my home right at the beginning and only taken half of the damage (no 8th face yet), and that's probably what I should have done. That or try summoning in a dragon or two, again, right at the beginning.
I certainly haven't played enough DD yet to really evaluate it, but the benefits of an 8th face, particularly in a two-player game, seem a little high.
I'll definitely be up for another one, I just have to think about whether I want to play with dice I own or take the 36 points of anything approach.
