I might have made this request elsewhere, or a long time ago. Would it be possible for you guys to periodically send out a newsletter? I know a lot of the guys that I know who used to, or still do, play dragondice, think the game is completely dead, because they do not participate in this forum. I'd love to have news to send to to them via email periodically.

I also don't hang around here much, so I'm way behind on news also.

What would you like to see in a newsletter? Company updates, featured products, playing tips, news about events? This is something that we might consider, if there's a level of interest in it.

Mmmmmmmmmm Interesting Surprised

I have come across 'olde' players that have no idea that SFR have 'taken over', so to speak. I always direct them to the SFR site as well as asking if they need more dice Wink.

Do you think that Dragon Dice needs more advertising or promoting?

I was chatting to an employee of "Forbidden Planet" (I will agree that it was a subordinate caste in the lower floor!) but he told me that, "Dragon Dice was good in it's day but now this new company has taken over the dice are very poor quality". Question

Not my words, but if he did not stock them, and has not seen the SFR dice he must be repeating what someone else told him.

Perhaps it is just the view of the UK (small island on the west side of Europe).

As I said - interesting !

Taking bets now at 4:1 that this mail gets deleted Evil or Very Mad

No, it's good to hear what the perception of the company is.

There has not been enough promotion-yet. Part of that is due to factors that occurred prior to the election of the current board. Part is the development process that is going on right now with the product line. I can safely say, without giving away company secrets, that you will see much more promotion starting this summer.

As for dice quality, most of the available dice are the TSR dice that SFR inherited. All the reprints were done by the same company that did the TSR dice. And frankly, there is no way you can say that the TSR promo dice were superior to the promo dice that SFR has produced as an whole. Maybe they don't like the white ink on the reprints (which, admittedly, isn't as cool, but does separate the two runs for collectors who care about that).

One of our biggest hurdles was getting Dragon Dice back into the distribution stream. This was accomplished late last year, so if you know a dealer or game store let them know that they can order DD products through their usual distributor. (We are available through all major distributors.) Or have them drop me an e-mail at wholesaleATsfr-inc.com (with the usual substitution).

As an aside, I've played "Forbidden Planet," and enjoy the game. My son actually bought it. But I'll put our production values up against theirs any day. Smile

Newsletters and anything sent via email is very problematic these days. Two years ago (the last time a newsletter was sent out); the website was shutdown for 3 days while we tried to convince our website provider that we were not spamming. Also, newsletters these days have to be "opt-in". This means people have to register to get them. It just seems the forum is easier, and records everything at the same time.

Couldn't you consider everyone on the forums 'opted in'? As I said, the problem here is that everyone not on this forum, or everyone not active on the forum, sees ZERO activity. That's not good.

What I would like to see is whatever you have time to put in it. Mostly 'news' is best - new dice news, new sales news, ideas on promoting the game, etc. Anything that will give readers, and those we forward it on to, the idea that the game and company are not dead.

Hello forum,

I've been gone for about a year. Anyone care to fill me in on what's going on with SFR right now? Has any new product come out, or is any planned to come out soon? I can't make it to Gencon this year, but a friend is going, and if there is anything new he can stop by and pick it up for me.
Aside from that, what are in the plans for the rest of this year, etc.? I browsed the forum, but I doubt I got a year's worth of news out of a one-hour perusal.

Hope you all are doing well.
