I want to create a feral/firewalker army, and I wanted some advice. I was thinking of using the feral for melee and loads of saves, and the 'walkers as my missile/magic base. I have my own ideas for this army, but would like your opinions on how it would/wouldn't work, and how to construct it (Also, I haven't bought the feral kicker's yet... kinda wanted to get an impression of the feral's first, since I absolutely LOVE the firewalkers.)

Try an Owl-Folk

it has 3 magic icons (So it has a magic health value of 3 instead of 4 so you can add more magic )
Sieze for Missile
and 2 Disspels
Screech might work with the melee of your other Feral

(perhaps a Blue trebuchet if you like magic items)

I had a great idea (I thought):

50% Antilopes for Maneuvers
50% Sunbursts for Magic

Strategy: Use your magic for casting spells like protection spells on your armies or to disturb your opponent's abilities.
Use the Antilopes' maneuvers to maneuver terrains or to countermaneuver your opponent's maneuvers.

If you're unlucky with the starting distances at the terrains (no magic), draw back your magicians into reserves, but that "halves" your magic available because in reserves you can't double IDs!!!

Feralization brings back units, but you can add a Gold Medallion or Troll to your army.

I play part of this army right now, but I added too many other dice (Dragonlord, -slayer, etc...) so it doesn't work.

I played the army as discribed twice and it was incredible!!!
On the other hand: my opponents were beginners, LOL.

So: no guarantee that this will work.

IF YOU ARE MORE INTO MELEE ARMIES:

The Double Strike of the Lion Folk counts 4 points!!!!
Leopard Folk are strong, too!

I'd love to play a Lion Folk (Feral)/ Leopard Rider (Goblins) army once! (REND, REND, REND!!!!) Twisted Evil

I can tell you, that you will play no army better, than your army. I've seen a lot of people build the same army as someone else and just not play it as well.

You have to find your style, are you aggressive or passive? So you take risks or prefer predictability? Build an army that fits your style and it'll never surprise you.

Playing Firewalkers is more difficult than naming one or two dice, you must be aware of there strenght and weaknesses.

Cause the "jack in all trade" design, all dice have all icons, except magic.
You can force them strongly in melee by using lot of dice with saves, cause they have the flaming shields special ability, making shields melee.

And don´t forget the Fireshadow monster, he is so full of usefully SAI´s, he is a big help in any Firewalker Army.

Using Firewalker Mages, be aware that they have no saves, so use them is really risky, and even don´t think of using missile, they don't have enough missile icons for using such.

Firewalkers are really strong melee fighters and good mages with usable spells.

A good trick is calling a dragon on your own terrain and leaving the opponent with it using your terrain flight.
