| Has anyone thought of using the treasure icon on the dragon to draw a random magic item instead of promoting? |

Yes, I believe that was discussed on the old mail list as part of a larger discussion on making magical items more useful.

Yes people have, but don't let that stop you. We are still looking for interesting game variations that people have fun playing. The Windy City Bone Rollers (see the conventions forum) have had a large number of interesting formats from month to month. Mostly variations on army construction, but sometimes other things.
So think up some variation you'd like to try and post it. I'm sure you'll get some comments. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

| My idea was along the lines of, each player brings "X" number of points of magic items/artifacts, representing the dragons horde. First dragon killed by an army gets to pick a 1 point item, next dragon either another 1 point item or upgrade to a 2 point item, etc. up to an artifact. This could be viewed as as assembling "The Rod of 7 Parts" |

How about this as an idea for the dragon's treasure icon,
As an option, you can bring back a buried magic item
instead of promoting your army. |

Not a bad idea. Though I doubt that many items would be brought back with it anyway (promoting many units vs bringing back one item? hmmm. . . easy choice for me). _________________ "Everything Brad said is correct." - Chuck Pint |

yes true but if the option of bringing back a magic item over-weighs the promotion, it might just improve the game |

Here is a similar idea:
If treasure is rolled, you may either promote a unit or bring in one item from your summoning pool. The health of this item may not be more than the number of dragons you must bring to the game.
So in a 36 health game your army can find either one uncommon or one common item (but not a rare). |

The Dragon's Treasure could work this way for magic items,
First when you roll a Treasure,
You may move a Magic item from the BUA to the summoning pool
instead of a promote,
Then When you kill a Dragon you can bring in one magic item to the army
instead of an army promotion.
This makes sense because the amount of health that an army can gain through killing a Dragon sometimes is very large. |
