Robert, AKA Pelter_Boy, will be unavailable this week for online games, responses to insults, the posting of obnoxious questions, or counts of his Pelter collection. I dropped him off tonight at the HQ for the Great American Marching Band, which will be leading off the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year. This is the first MGAMB ever, and he will be playing sousaphone (that's a marching tuba) in the band. So if you get the Macy's parade where you are, watch Thanksgiving morning for a tall, skinny tuba boy in the first band you see. (Their uniforms are red and white, designed to make theband look slim and tall, so you can imagine what it does for Robert.) If I get pictures, I'll post a few here. _________________ Steve "DDice" Braun

Who knows.....I might find a new collab partner then, LOL! Unfortunately I can't receive US TV, so I guess the chances are low, LOL!
Anyhow, good luck with your march and playing, Robert!!!! But remove the hidden Pelters from the tuba before playing, I don't know how the audience might react if it starts raining Pelters after the first blow!!!

I am a fellow Tuba player as well.
Every Year here in Chicago they hold the Tuba Christmas.
Hundreds of Tuba players assemble to play Christmas Songs in Unison.
I have never played in the Tuba Christmas,
but it sounds like fun. |

Robert has played Tuba Christmas in Philadelphia and the big one at Rockefeller Center in NYC. Robert and his brother Jonathan may be doing the Tuba Christmas thing this year (possibly with Mom, who can pick her way through on the baritone horn, while Dad and sister enjoy the lights-if I can keep my daughter out of the stores...)
Oh, and if you missed Robert in the Macy's Parade last year, he was invited back again this year. So watch the beginning of the parade for the Great American Marching Band, and look for a tall tuba player...
(Doesn't this just make you question the judgment of those Macy's Parade people, though?) _________________ Steve "DDice" Braun

Speaking of which...
Robert in in NYC (actually, they spend most of their time in NJ, since the hotel and practice site are there, so he hasn't even left the state much), and ready to perform Thursday. If the instrument situation doesn't change, he will be the only member of the tuba line playing an "unmarked" instrument (no company logo on the bell), which will make him easy to find. Not that it would be that had anyway, since he's not only the tallest tuba player, but the tallest player in the band...
Tune in, 9 AM on NBC.
If I can get a shot of him i uniform, I'll post it here.
Oh, and I'll be out of town until Friday... _________________ Steve "DDice" Braun

I found a You Tube video of last year's performance at Herald Square. Count over four tubas from the right of the sousa line, and there he is. (He also sticks up a couple of inches above his line partners.)
