Basically, my question is that if an SAI generates normal results, then ONLY a minor terrain or eighth face can modify the results??

The rules say its not the results, but the icon generating them that matters. So to my understanding magic negation can't subtract from Cantrip (an example given), nor can magic penalties like Ash Storm, nor can Howl subtract from a Rend, nor can Burning Hands double a Trample, nor can Wave halve a Sortie, a Transmute Rock to Mud can't subtract from Flys, etc. etc......

Am I on the right track here or did I miss something? So an army of rares with SAIs has a much greater chance of ignoring penalties magical or non-magical, but doesn't allow for magical boosts either, right?

Thanks again,
Jason

Almost right. Racial abilities can also modify SAI results. For example, a Dwarf Trample rolled during a maneuver roll at a highland terrain is doubled.

Correct.

Yep, you're on the right track.

However, Minor Terrains and Terrains do not modify SAIs that are rolled for an individual roll. Only if the roll is part of an army roll.
