If I can risk being off topic, why is this (the only I believe) SAI on a monster that affects 2 health instead of 4? I understand that its really powerful, but it just bugs me... and there's only a hand ful of monsters that even have it. _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

The SAI's that first come to mind are Gore and Flame...
both can bury.
My thinking is that these unit's intent were to create a group wall.
i.e Flame can be added together.
So a group of Hellhounds can be a threat.
Also a Rhinofolk ...imagine a heard of Rhinos attacking.
Now a Death Naga on the other hand can bury 4 heath,
but I think that unit was inteneded to be an individual threat.
Well that's my take on it. |

hmm... and they have 2 flames so a 1 in 5 chance? that would make an interesting battlefest army... _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

I decided that was an important enough question to start it's on topic.
Jim is right, there are two monster special SAIs that affect two health. Both kill and bury. While Gore offers a save against being killed, there is no save against the burial. Also note, Gore works as normal melee during a dragon attack, while Flame does not. Other SAIs that bury (Poison, Flaming Arrow, Crush) have a save against being killed, and another against burial. Of course there is an exception to that, Swallow. That is a major monster-killer. The only save is to roll an ID or be killed and buried. However, since it only shows up on the Remorhaz, which has no other SAIs, it's power is somewhat contained.
There is another 2 point monster SAI, Tail. Since it's only on the Crocosaur, it's safe to say it was limited to 2 points because otherwise that monster would be too powerful. That monster has 6 sides that generate melee, with three of those 6 allowing re-rolls. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

Hmm.. taken in reference to the other sai's and their power it does make a little more sense. I just need to understand why sometimes _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |
