If I rolled stun and convert,
can I stun a unit, and then it won't be able to make an individual avoidance roll?
If stun does disallow an individual avoidance roll,
then would Stun/Lightning Strike work the same way?
I would like to post this in Tips and Tricks if it works. |

There are several SAIs that prevent a die from being rolled: Entangle, Sleep, Stun and Web. All have the same language: "cannot be rolled". There is nothing about whether that is during an army roll or individual roll. So it's clear to me that for those effects, the die affected cannot be rolled under any circumstance. Going with the same principle as Dragonkin's auto-save, if they can't be rolled, they can't generate any results. The exceptions would be if they have a spell cast on the unit that generates results for that unit even if it doesn't roll. Currently the only spell like that is Earthen Armor. It would generate a save even if the unit can't roll. Of course, if what the unit needed was some other result, it's out of luck... _________________ You can never have too many dice.

Thanks Chuck,
I do have another question concerning the same "cannot be rolled" subject.
If I sucessfully Entangle, Sleep, Stun or Web, an Undead Unit,
and then Poison the Undead Unit,
will the Undead unit be able to use Burial resitance?
My thinking is that it can roll for burial resistance since it is dead. |

All spells and other unit-targeting effects with a duration are gone when a unit goes into the DUA. This why we went thru the rules very carefully and made sure it said "kill and bury" everywhere instead of just "bury". The unit will always go into the DUA (even if it normally gets no save against burial). This allows things like Undead burial resistance to work. It would also allow Honor the Dead to work. If the effect allows a save against burial, then even if it was stunned, it would get a save against the burial effect. It would not get a save (if any) against the killing effect. So a Stunned unit that is Poisoned, would not roll a save against being killed, but would get a normal save against the burial effect. See "Dead" in the glossary. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

| Just to push this a little further..... if a Phoenix was thus affected (by a Web/Stun/etc.), and killed and buried, it would die and after that still get to roll for Rise from the Ashes, THEN it would be buried and get another Rise from the Ashes attempt.....right?! Since the Rise comes after dying or being buried?? |
