Okay, this might be very basic and one should think that it doesn't need explanation, but we stumbled across this during our last DD game yesterday:
Goblins at a Swamp terrain. Rolling for magic. 1 Leopard Rider (3 health) rolls ID = 3 points of magic.
ID magic points can be doubled if the race color matches the terrain color (in this case gold) and - for black magic - via somebody's DUA if there's enough dead units in the DUA.
Now, the Goblin owner (nope, not me this time, LOL) doubles magic to a total of six points and then decides to use 3 black and 3 gold magic points. I'd say this is NOT POSSIBLE!
If you roll three magic points by ID of the Leopard Rider, then you have to decide, what colors they are (e.g. 2 gold, 1 black).
Now, if you double, you end up with 4 gold and 2 black. You can use three gold for the spell, one gold expires unused and you only have 2 black points of magic left!
I understand the rules that way that I have to decide the color first and THEN double them, not vice versa! Am I right? _________________

If all your magic is doubled from IDs then you can only have even numbers of each color. While each point of a ID can be a different color, when it's doubled, it's all doubled as one color. So in your example with the Leopard Rider ID, you have the following possible points of magic:
6 gold
4 gold, 2 black
2 gold, 4 black
6 black
Any other combination is not legal. Of course you don't have to spend all the points, for example you could cast a Stoneskin and a Palsy, which would "waste" one point of black. You could also cast two Palsy spells. But there is no combination that allows you to cast two 3 point spells of different colors. _________________ You can never have too many dice.
