I've learned a smattering of Deutsch mostly from listening to Rammstein. I got about half of the sentence above, which is about as useful as learning half the alphabet. Don't suppose you feel like joining my circle of intermittent lesson-buddies?

"Show your flag" in German also means: to admit something, to come out, to show what you can do, to prove something which you have pretended to know/to be able to do.
In my sentence I was referring to the optional flag symbol underneath everybody's name in the left column of each post. It was kinda "playing with words" which works in German only (in this case).
I supposed you might be German and I was surprised that you always posted in very good English. Usually you can tell by the posts if someone is not a native English speaker.
Now I know that you're not German but have some knowledge including difficult/complicated terms!
WELL DONE!!! But Freund is spelled with capital "F", I just thought it was a typo, LOL.

Almost good!
It's: Wo kann ich eine Flagge für mein Profil finden.
(where can I a flag for my profile find, LOL)
Flagge is female in German (there we go again, the difficult problem with the three different German articles. I know it's difficult) so it would be "eine", not "ein".
And the word order in sentences is different from the English way.
Anyhow, you're doing good!
Answer: go to "profile", scroll down to the middle of the second section where it says "country flag". Choose your country from the menue, save profile. Done!

Hm, how do you do the umlaut? I dunno if it's on the keyboard for German computers, but as far as I know the only way in English is to go to Character Map and copy one down manually, which is a lot of work if you're going to type any quantity of Deutsch....

You can simply type the basic letters a, u and o and add an e to them:
ä = ae
ü = ue
ö = oe
It's perfectly correct that way.
We have them on our keyboards but they're not included in foreign keyboards.
The "Umlaute" (= plural of Umlaut) developed out of the "ancient" way of writing German. Until maybe 100 years ago we used a different style where the e was placed on top of the a, o, or u. Over the past decades the e was "crippled" down to what it is now, simply two dots.
The combination with e behind the letters is still used today, mostly when filling in forms on PC.
So if you don't have an appropriate key on your keyboard, just use the combinations listed above.

Ah, we got bumped into this forum, cool. Although technically Dragon Dice didn't have anything to do with my German learning past the fact that I met one more Deutschophone here, but oh well. 
Hey, here's a question: if I incorrectly used "die" to refer to some attribute of a male person, would he take it as an insult? (eg: "I'm really impressed with Frank's honesty", and for honesty I used "die"; would Frank take this as a besmirchment of his masculinity?)
Also, the word "schoen"; what exactly does it translate to above? I thought "schoen" meant "pretty", as in the song "Kein Schoner Land" ("No More Beautiful Land"). Perhaps I'm confused.

No! We are used to the fact that foreigners make mistakes like those. It's no problem except if we KNOW that the speaker knows the difference, THEN it's an insult.

It means pretty/nice! Actually we Germans say "Pretty thanks" (in the meaning of "I thank you nicely") if it's translated literally.
Thank you very much would be "Vielen Dank".
