I was reading through some old emails and I came upon a cryptic reference to a spell called Create Elemental or something, which would turn a minor terrain into a monster! This is too cool for words; why isn't it in the rules anymore? Is there a record of what the spell used to do somewhere? And what other spells have been flushed for whatever reason since SFR took over the game? _________________ Designer of Hybrid Dragon Breaths, the Enchant Element spell, new colored Dragonkin Breaths, and various homebrew races and dragons. It didn't work. It was never cast. So we got rid of it. There are about a dozen spells that got dropped. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

This spell in particular was added in as an experiment and it failed.

As the resident home-rules king around here, I'd love to see the list. _________________ Designer of Hybrid Dragon Breaths, the Enchant Element spell, new colored Dragonkin Breaths, and various homebrew races and dragons. Interesting. Growth is obviously a rules nightmare, and Muck Monster lacks something in terms of effectiveness, but I'm not sure why some of the others are dropped; all of them appear to be cool. In particular, I'm sad that the "target army attacks itself" spells Savage and Bloodlust were dropped, as this is a gorgeous concept, making an otherwise unstoppable melee force destroy itself to get the Feral or Swampie player back in the game.
I plan to test these for revisions so they can be re-included in time, including making the "animate terrain" spell good enough to be worth creating versions for all four terrain types. (Although I'm having a little trouble conceptualizing what the flatland one would look like - perhaps a Dust Elemental?) _________________ Designer of Hybrid Dragon Breaths, the Enchant Element spell, new colored Dragonkin Breaths, and various homebrew races and dragons. None of the "army attacks itself" ever worked. Savage takes 3 points of magic per health to attack, so unless you got a lot of magic, it was useless. Bloodlust just never seemed to hurt an army. With IDs going to saves, the odds were that it wasn't going to work. Worse yet, under the old rules Smite didn't work during a Bloodlust. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

I have to agree with Chuck. I remember trying to use Savage/Bloodlust, and it was nothing but a waste of time. Though Backlash falls into the same category, but we kept that around....
Cone of Cold (the 10 point version) was quite fun to use (but it is obviously way over powered). |
