Well, I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for (and this is by no means a "good" strategy, it's just what I end up doing) but I usually end up making my three armies as follows:
Horde: Usually all of my heavy-maneuver guys (to try and win the Frontier Terrain choice)
Campaign: Usually all of my heaviest hitters (either ranged or melee, depending on the race)
Home: All of my magic users (especially geared to take advantage of the double-magic property of the terrain, since this is the only terrain I'll definitely get to choose)
This ends up causing problems, of course, because the terrains are rolled after my armies are placed, so the home terrain isn't always set to magic, and the frontier terrain isn't always set to the type of battle I want. I know that unless the terrain is in immediate danger of being taken, you can always just move your armies to different terrains over a couple turns, but I haven't quite figured out how to set up my armies to lessen the necessity. |

Try to major in 2 disciplines and a minor in maneuvering. ie max magic, heavy melee and some maneuver. Dont divide your armies equally among all 3 terrains to start....put half in horde to try for choice of frontier, and the other half(less 1 unit) in your home or campaign army...this will give you max protection if you dont go first and max effectivity if you do go first. will show you how this works come this saturday . _________________ "Another days useless energy spent." And always remember...there is NO PERFECT ARMY. Anything army you can design can be countered, its part of what makes this game so great. The better you know your opponent, the better chance you have at building an army to defeat them. If you dont know him at all, then you both have an equal chance and it comes down to KNOWING YOUR DICE and what they are best at. This game rocks, can't wait til Saturday. _________________ "Another days useless energy spent." Moody Blues |
