How is this handled in a manner to keep the surprise a surprise? The first game everyone plays will have everyone revealing their armies to each other, and everyone is surprised. But not only will you see your opponent's army, it is very likely that you will also see a future opponents army as well. And lets say one match ends in 30 minutes. That means the two participants of that game now have to kill another 30 minutes, and can probably do so by watching the other games... learning more about their future opponents' armies... while the people still playing are too involved in their current games to reciprocate. Is this ever a problem? Are there dividers or something set up to prevent that? Or does it not really matter because you cant change your army construction after the tournament starts anyways.
I've never played in a tournament, so I was just curious how that aspect of the game is handled. _________________ Shoe |

This is considered part of 'the game'.
Just like you need to be aware of what your opponents dice can do, you should take a few moments to look down the table at those players you are most worried about beating.
This is why for any individual match I will swap my home and campaign armies.
Then it becomes a guessing game of putting my melee against your mages, etc.
swap it up and don't play the same setup every round. _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

OK... so knowing what everyone is playing is pretty much part of the tournament. Got it. _________________ Shoe |

I was given a bye in the first round and I went around and snooped on everyone's armies...
and I even told them I'm snooping...
turns out nobody really thought it was a problem... |

I think also, Shoeshan, realistically it only needs to be the first round of secracy anyway because after that your stuck with your dice. I mean thats obvious but what I am trying to say is that only before the first round can you switch them out so it becomes irrelevant after that. If I caught a glimpse before round one I could change it up, thus the secrecy. _________________ Will
