| Quick question: Why, from a design perspective, isn't an army being attacked with missiles allowed to counter-attack? |

Mostly balance. Missile is right now the weakest way to attack. Also, since an army being attacked by missile can be at another terrain, that terrain may not be on missile. So it would be a bit confusing as well. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

It would be interesting to see if the game would be better or worse if the "magic" range on terrain dice was removed and different spells were just classified as "melee" or "missile" range spells, and spells could be cast after melee or missile combat actions (or before them, in the case of cantrips). It might make the game too complicated, but on the other hand it could also remove the necessity for certain cleanup-phase steps.
A little late in the game now, though, either way.  |

We have this catch-all called 3.0 which is where we put ideas like these.
