What terrains do you guys take with Frostwings? I've been playing Amazon cavalry/light and Frostwing mages mixed, and I've been using a flatland tower as my home terrain (obviously), but what do YOU guys use for your frontier?

I have two (or three or four!) trains of logic, and I'm torn about which option is the better choice. Here are the options I'm exploring, and the reasoning:

1. Flatland Standing Stones - It's flatland, so Amazons have their cool stuff there. It's standing stones, and blue, so Frostwings can double magic there (and get access to gold, plus cast Deadlands to add black).

2. Flatland Castle - Flatland again, and becomes standing stones if I want, but gives the possibility of a temple (in case of black magic) or city (if I want free recruit/promote).

3. Flatland Grove - Gives me more magic faces to work with (so I'm more likely to roll one), grants Amazon ability, and (since Frostwings don't naturally double magic) hinders my opponent's magic casting more than mine.

4. Wasteland Standing Stones - No racial ability, but it gives me blue to double for Frostwings, and grants access to red, which gives me Dancing Lights. It just allows me to extend the powerful anti-magic effects to other terrains (more powerful than the Magic Drain spell).

So what would YOU run?

I always take a FL SS. Though I could probably be talked into a castle (just don't own one) because it has one more magic face.

You forgot one of the best choices: Coastland Standing Stones. It gives you a lot of missile (which Frostwings are really good at doing), as well as blue for magic.

BTW, I often play Frostwings with a heavy melee/mage mix. The Frostwing heavy melee maneuver almost as well as the cavalry, and they all have fly (which is missing on the cavalry), so they save better. For those I tend to bring a Flatland Standing Stones for a home, and a Coastland Dragon's Lair for the Frontier.

Well, if I were playing Frostwing missiles, I'd probably do that. However, my mages wouldn't really gain any benefit to the extra missile faces, and the Amazons cavalry/light melee wouldn't find any real use for that terrain either.

So I can see the potential use for it, but with this army I don't.

Why a Coastland Dragon's Lair?

I know why "Dragon's Lair". I don't know why *Coastland* Dragon's Lair.

Oops, your title confused me. I thought your army was all Frostwings. Missed (somehow) the Amazon part.... So I'll finish my thought about Frostwings only:

Coastland because it's more useful for Frostwings, and not so much for other races. Only Coral Elves get any advantages there. And green is a color that won't hurt you.

Like Chuck mentioned...
Coastland Standing Stones...(Dark)
use the SFR Starter version.

So I knicknamed this particular terrain Shadowlands for fun.
