This variant is to take advantage of small games at lunch over a limited space while maintaining most of the standard rules. The objective is simple. I apologize for the roughness but it is what it is right now.
The game is broken up into rounds. Each round having a potentially different set up. The winner is determined by the first player either to control the 8th face of a single die with a single army or to eliminate the other opponent.
Army size is limited to 12, 18, and 24. Each player brings at most 1 dragon to the table and 2 terrain and, optionally, 2 minor terrain.
Turn order in Small Town Esfah is similar to the standard rules. Each player rolls maneuvers with each tying player rolling their army again for the same spot. The player with the highest maneuvers will go first and is the one to select the starting terrain. For example, in a 4 player game, player A rolls 4 manuevers, player B rolls 1, and players C and D roll 3. Players C and D will roll again and the highest goes second and the lowest goes third.
Roll the terrain like the standard rules dictate. A player may at the start of their march try to maneuver the terrain. If successful, roll the terrain again but keeping the result or instead apply a minor terrain. If the result is the 8th face, the player wins the round and will have the affects of the 8th face apply to their army in only the next round. If a single player has not captured two 8th faces, a new round begins with a maneuver roll described in the initial set up.
Players get only one action and then a reserve action. Spells and affects that target a different terrain, instead target the only terrain available. _________________ Will Moore
