2. Attendees can register for as many events as they choose to.
3. The convention offers a "Con Suite", where attendees have access to snacks and soft drinks for free.

Is there going to be a Saturday morning qualifier for the Regional? I can't come, but my two sons are considering it. (I have a professional commitment that weekend.)

Yes - see CXX9 (Sat. AM) and CXX10 (Sat. PM). DREAMATION should have their full event schedule listed by February 15th 19th (pretty late, considering the convention starts on the 23rd). I'll update the event numbers when they post the event list on their website.

Results of the Dragon Dice Events at DREAMATION 2012
C354: Dragon Dice Novice Tournament. No attendees at this session.

C355: Dragon Dice Playtest Session. A three-player game was tried using 51-health Force Pools (the equivalent of the 2-player starter 36-health distribution, plus a booster pack). The game took significantly longer than the typical 4 or 6 player “team” games previously playtested. Some editing was noted for the spell lists and some of the SAIs. For Force Pools of this size, about 4 tiles/player appears to be the upper limit for creating a gameboard.

C399: Dragon Dice Intermediate Event: Single Race. Edward Biot won this event with a Feral army and qualified for the 2012 DENCC Region 4 Dragon Dice Championship.

C400: Dragon Dice Novice Tournament. There were no attendees to this event, so I put on another playtest session of the boardgame. This was a 2-player scenario using only 36-health armies, using 8 tiles with two “impassable” tiles in a 3-4-3 pattern. This developed into a good competitive game with significant swings of advantage, ending in 90 minutes.

C443: Dragon Dice “Constructed Starter” Intermediate Event: Four players entered this event:
Gavin (“Dusty”) Youngs: Scalder/Treefolk
Jamie Giffen: Firewalker/Undead
Jared Schuller: Firewalker/Goblin
John Poniske: Swampstalker/Treefolk

Jared won and John placed 2nd in this event, with Jared qualifying for the 2012 DENCC Region 4 Dragon Dice Championship.

C444: Dragon Dice Novice Tournament. Edward Biot won this event with Ranier Frickanisie in 2nd place.

C487: Dragon Dice Advanced Event: Constructed Army. Four players entered this event:
Gavin (“Dusty”) Youngs: Feral/Treefolk
Jamie Giffen: Firewalker/Undead
Jared Schuller: Goblins/Lava Elves and Dragonlord
John Poniske: Goblins/Treefolk
Jared won and Dusty placed 2nd in this event.
C488: Dragon Dice Playtest Session. This was a
-player scenario using only 36-health armies, using 8 tiles with two “impassable” tiles in a 3-4-3 pattern. This also developed into a good competitive game with significant swings of advantage, ending in 90 minutes.

C556: Dragon Dice Intermediate Event: Sealed Starter. There were four entrants in this event:
Edward Biot: Feral/Undead
Dusty Youngs: Amazons/Swampstalkers
Frank Warren: Amazons/Swampstalkers
Shannon Witte: Amazons/Swampstalkers

Shannon Witte won this event undefeated, which was remarkable in that she had played Dragon Dice for the first time the day before as a demonstration game and liked it so much that she entered this event. The highlight was a back and forth match between Shannon and Edward, where each player had three shots at winning the 2nd Eighth Face and just couldn’t win that maneuver roll, and both players had at least half their armies in the graveyard. Although she qualified for the 2012 DENCC Region 4 Dragon Dice Championship, Shannon preferred to play in the Novice event scheduled at the same time.

C604: Dragon Dice Advanced Event: Battlefest! There were four entrants in this event:
Dusty Youngs: Treefolk (half Willow types/half Dryad types)
Frank Warren: Feral
Jared Schuller: Black Eldarim/Goblins
Dan Burkley (2 rounds only): Dwarves/Lava Elves and Dragonslayer

Dusty Youngs won this event with Jared Schuller coming in 2nd, with Dusty qualifying for the 2012 DENCC Region 4 Dragon Dice Championship.

C605: Dragon Dice Novice Tournament. This was expanded into a 36-health “Single Race” event by unanimous agreement. There were four entrants in this event:
Brian Eggert: Goblins
Michael Schuller: Coral Elves
Michael Witte: Lava Elves
Shannon Witte: Dwarves
Brian Eggert won this event in a tight finale with Michael Witte where the game could have been decided four times by either player before Brian finally sealed the deal.

C636: The 2012 DENCC Region 4 Dragon Dice Championship. Although we had 5 players qualify, only three attended – so an Alpha format was followed. Dusty Youngs won the first round multi-player event, and did the best in the round-robin matches that followed, winning the 2012 DENCC Region 4 Dragon Dice Championship. Dusty automatically qualifies for the US Championship event to be held at DEXCON in July 2012.
1st Place: Dusty Youngs: Treefolk
2nd Place: Jared Schuller: Goblins/Lava Elves
3rd Place: Edward Biot: Feral/Undead

C648: Dragon Dice Playtest Session. A 3-player game was playtested, using a set-up of 12 tiles with two “impassable” tiles. The game started with a 36-health Force Pool and 18-health starting armies, but it became apparent after 3 turns that the 15-health booster needed to be added to increase the Force Pool. One player complained it was not enough, but he succeeded to win the game, anyway, controlling 7 of 12 tiles at the start of his turn. The game lasted 65 minutes.

C709: Dragon Dice Playtest Session. A 6-player game was playtested as two teams of 3 players, using a set-up of 26 tiles with two “impassable” tiles. The game started with 36-health Force Pools and 18-health starting armies. The majority of players were novices to Dragon Dice, but aggressive, so the starting Force Pools were constantly replenished with losses. At least one player remarked that he felt the starting Force Pool should have been larger. The game ended with a conclusion in about 2 hours.

Several players from last year’s DEXCON events did not return to DREAMATION, but we welcomed back Frank Warren, who played at the Dragon Dice events at DREAMATION and DEXCON in 2009 and 2010. Jamie Giffen and John Poniske are Dragon Dice players from Maryland, who made the trip to attend DREAMATION and tumble some dice with some of our New Jersey gamers. We welcome Edward Biot, Michael Witte, and Shannon Witte as new Dragon Dice players (buying product to field their own armies) and I hope to see them again at DEXCON and next year’s DREAMATION, along with the rest of our players.
