I've seen a few people ask about the proper way to trade dice. It's really a bit of an open-ended question, in the long run if all parties involved are happy after it's over, then it was done correctly. But if you have no idea, some suggestions may make it easier for you.
First of all make sure it's clear what you want to get and want you have to offer. Nothing makes a trade go downhill faster than if you don't communicate properly. Know your dice! Look them up on the SFR website or in the back of the rules.
Second, once you are agreed on the dice you want to trade, make sure each of you know where you are sending the dice. Email complete addresses to each other. If you are not sure of the proper way to format your address, use this link and type in your address. The USPS tool will "standardize" the address. Generally, each person pays for sending their dice to the other person.
Third, pack your dice properly! Dice have been lost in the mail when not packed correctly. If it's just a few dice (less than 20), it's cheapest to send in a padded envelope. Do NOT send in a normal envelope, it will get shredded in the mail. Use plenty of tape. And use the right tape, normal scotch tape sucks, use packing tape.
Last and not least, let the person know when you get your dice. _________________ You can never have too many dice.
