Sorry if I write in wrong topic.
The entire last year our gaming group played out a house rule:
only those dice can generate magic points who has magical icon.
With this rule we can avoid the very common gaming style: the magic war.
A little bit fewer magical points the players have and can concentrate a little more strtegies and another than only magic war.
What do you think about it?

I went ahead and moved this to the Game Variations forum for you.
I've heard similar suggestions before. Either you make it so that ID's can not generate magic or that only ID's from magicians (ie units that contain a magic icon) can generate magic.
I agree that this would greatly reduce the amount of magic an army can generate, but I don't see that it would reduce my choice to bring fewer magicians or to not get into a magic war.
