In our club we are still not sure how to play Stone.
Let's say an enemy army shoots at my 4 Medusas and I am lucky enough to roll stone results - does the opposing army have a save roll against the stone results? Or are the saves counted which were rolled during the missile strike? Or does the enemy army not have saves at all?
In Counter and Volley it says quite clear 'only magical saves protect against this damage.' That's much clearer |

| Quote: | Stone: Special (missile action); Normal (dragon attack or missile avoidance roll)
During a missile action, each Stone result immediately inflicts one point of damage on the defending army; no saves (including those provided by spells) can stop this damage. During a dragon attack or missile avoidance roll, Stone generates missile results. |
I'm really not sure what's unclear here. "no saves (including those provided by spells) can stop this damage". Since this is only on monsters, it's 4 points of damage that is completely unsavable. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

Your question confuses me. If another army rolls a missile attack against your medusa army and your medusas roll Stone (during their save roll), the Stone results would not do anything. Stone does nothing during a save roll.
If you meant to say that your Medusas are rolling a missile attack against another army, and they roll Stone, then you kill units in the opposing army equal to the Stone results, and this happens before the defending army even rolls for saves. In other words, their army is weakened (suffers losses) before they get to roll their save results. Note that the defending player gets to pick which units die, but he must kill enough health of units to resolve the Stone before he rolls for saves. The units chosen would, of course, go to the DUA and would not even participate in the save roll. _________________ Shoe |

Okay, another try:
'During a dragon attack or missile avoidance roll, Stone generates missile results'
The thing with the dragon is clear.
The missile avoidance roll is a save roll, right?
In other words I am shooting back while he is shooting me.
How does my opponent save that (if he may/does)? |

No, a missile avoidance roll is NOT a save roll. By definition, an Avoidance roll is when you roll for a particular result in order to avoid some effect. So a Save Avoidance roll and a Save roll are NOT the same. A Save roll is a roll for save results in order to decrease the amount of damage taken. A Save Avoidance roll is a roll to avoid an effect, for an example, see Poison. A Missile Avoidance roll is when you have to roll missile results in order to avoid an effect. There are currently no missile avoidance effects. The only Melee Avoidance roll is in response to a Wall of Thorns. There are many Maneuver Avoidance rolls in the current rules.
See page 16 of the rules: "Avoidance Rolls". _________________ You can never have too many dice.
