|
|
Hello,
I am new to these forums and SFR but I registered because I know you guys bought the rights to Dragon Dice from Wizards (or Hasboro). I was wondering if I could get advice or any leads on how I could do the same for a game I have been working on that also was previously owned by TSR. The game is called Spellfire. It's an old CCG I want to bring back in a more LCG style format with updated rules and cards. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Zach Moore |

Sorry I can't really advise you. From what I understand we were an oddity. The original president had started talking with a friend who worked for tsr before they were ever purchased ( the first time). Now that the company is long gone I doubt you could even get "them" to admit they own the license.
I wish you luck, but there is no magic process I can suggest. _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

I'm curious, at what point would it become public domain? probably not a decade. _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

well with the look and feel laws being what they are...
if you did a new game with different rules and different cards and different artwork with a different name... it would be a different game and who cares what they think.
ALL games are similar to some other game. _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

| I would really like to use the Spellfire name though. I know this is a route I can take in the end but being able to use the old icons and name Spellfire would be ideal. |
