I've posted the first pass at the new basic rules. These rules, plus some "flavor text" will become the rules booklet that goes into the new racial starters. The document is at: http://www.sfr-inc.com/DDBasicRules.pdf
Here's the difference between these rules and the advanced rules:
- Only the first five races are that are in the starters are talked about.
- No monsters.
- Nothing from Magestorm (magic items, dragonkin, minor terrains).
- No racial spells.
- No promo dice.
- Nothing about tournaments.
- Nothing about routing (an optional rule even in the advanced rules).
- Major glossary items are listed at the beginning of the document.
Let me know if anything is left out, or if something should be removed. Also, don't get hung up over formatting, this will have to be heavily reformatted to fit on the booklet size that goes into the box. I've also decided not to put in an index, let me know if you think one is needed. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

First look: nice job! Gotta go through it more precisely.
But I just wanted to mention that I consider it necessary to have an index. That makes it much faster to jump to the appropriate page if you wanna look up something particular.
Even though the rules are much shorter than our advanced rules they're still much to read.
So if you wanna look up something during a game (especially as a beginner) I think an index would save lots of time.
And I would add maybe 1 or 2 pages with hints regarding basic strategies and building armies, just to give the beginners an idea of how to create their own strategies and how to put a working army together. Something they can start from, you know. Just basic stuff, since the dice in a starter are limited to the random assortment. Something which helps them building up on. _________________

Right now, I'm just looking to make sure the rules are right, and there will be no confusion going later to the advanced rules. _________________ You can never have too many dice.
