|
|
GenCon is now taking events. I'd like to hear from people that are planning on going to GenCon, what they would like to play. Here's what we ran last year (not counting Novice events):
Single Race
Team Tournament
No Magicians
World Championship
Sealed Box
Night of the Living Dead
Misfit Monster Bash
Battlefest
Look at the "Events" link on the main page to see the description of each of these. _________________ You can never have too many dice.
First Place at the first ever Daemon Dice sealed starter tournament.
Battlefest tied for first GenCon 2012
Single Race Champion GenCon 2008-2009, Sealed Box Champion GenCon 2007,2009,
My collection is 21,500 Dragon Dice, 20,000 Daemon Dice, and others (too many to count). |

I wouldn't run Team Tournament, since it had zero players last year (unless enough people say they are going to play in that event).
Regular Monster Bash would probably be more popular than Misfit Monster Bash.
How about running a Nature vs Death tournament?
How about a Starter + Kicker event where the players use one sealed starter and any one sealed kicker pack (player's choice on which kicker pack they use)?
How about All Uncommons?

My opportunities to play are likely to be limited since I'll probably be judging events. However here are my suggestions for the top priorities (regardless of whether I'm playing or judging):
- World Championship
- Sealed Box
- Battlefest
I like Brad's idea of a Nature vs Death tournament. Until we get the player base built back up and attending the cons, the Team Tournament is going to be a tough one to get enough players for, so I'd replace that one. I also agree that a regular Monster Bash would likely be more popular than a Misfit Monster Bash. _________________ John Koslow |

Who's going? Well, the tentative plans for the Coloradans is to have a full mini-van of folks make the trip. Right now I have six people in my van, and know of two more that want to follow behind in their own car. So it's possible we could have as many as 8 total, but plans always change.
The events my group would want to play:
Single Race
No Magicians
World Championship
NotLD
Battlefest
I think the only ones I might compete in would be Worlds and Single Race. I had my fill of Battlefest at Origins last year. _________________ The Maj

Let's see:
- Satisfaction of a job well done.
- Eternal gratitude.
- Good Karma.
- If you can figure it, maybe a free GM's Badge.
- And just maybe, a rare die that no one else has....

My boys will play in the Worlds, Single Race, and Robert will probably want to bring The-Dice-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named for Battlefest. If I can, I'll probably play Single Race for fun. Since I already offered to run Novice events, that and the booth will probably take most of the rest of my time (and I may have to spend some time entertaining my daughter as well, since the whole family is coming and Mom may want a break).

My Son(8yrs) and I will be there. Short drive as we live in Indy. We are still novices at DD.
I know we would be interested in:
Single Race
Sealed Box
And my son would love the Misfit Monster Bash.
Teutonic
KOTI

Ah, I forgot Potporri!
That is a fun event. For those unfamiliar with the format.
you construct a 36 health army, that someone else is going to play.
So, the idea is to make what you consider to be the worst army possible.
Then you play someone elses army and try to win. It is pretty fun.
