Alright, so I've taken a nice long look at the advanced rules. I've been steadily working my way through them since my last post. Hopefully these questions are more intelligent than last time (and Chuck won't have to reprimand me Embarassed ). So my question is this: if a player eliminates all opposing armies at a terrain, do they automatically control that terrain, or do they have to wait and maneuver it each turn until they reach the eighth face? In the original rules, it was pretty clear that an unopposed army would automatically control a terrain, but I couldn't seem to find it in the new rules.
Also, can I assume that if an unopposed army in control of a terrain is eliminated, that that terrain would then be turned down to face 7? I'm sorry if these questions are stupidly basic, but I feel like I'm relearning the game.

I'm really curious. How in the old rules did you come to the conclusion that an unopposed army could control a terrain? I'm assuming that by controlled, you mean it goes to 8.

I'm asking that because that was never the case. An army can only move a terrain one step at each maneuver. I'm not forgetting about Night Moves either, it just gives you an extra maneuver attempt. Routing and magic can move a terrain down more rapidly that up.

As for the army at 8 being destroyed, I'd hoped that was clear. Here's the quote from the rules:
Quote:
A terrain at its eighth face immediately turns back to its seventh face (the number 7 is showing) whenever the controlling army: abandons the terrain, loses control (is out-maneuvered) by an enemy army, or all of the units in the controlling army are killed.

And BTW, I'm really not trying to beat anyone up with the rules. If they are really not clear in some places, I'd like to know about it. If on the other hand, they are only not clear because you've mixed up the old and new rules, I may not worry as much about the wording of the new rules.

Okay, I realize how I got confused...
I started playing this game when it first came out, and I was only 11 or 12, so I must have read the rules wrong then, and when I read the old rules recently, I must have skimmed over the part about the eighth face, thinking I already knew it. As for the new rules, they are quite clear Chuck, I was just clarifying. Thanks again!
