|

I have a question from the Dreamation tournament this past weekend. I remember Jonathan using Evil Eyes against me with his Frostwings army, and I think I remember Derrick mentioning to me once about using it too. However, isn't Evil Eyes an Undead racial spell? Is there a way for one race to use another race's racial spells?
Thanks in advance for any answer. |

Frostwings cannot cast Undead spells (like Evil Eye). So, Jonathan did a BAD THING
The are only two ways an army can cast spells not belonging to it: either by rolling the Dragonstaff ID or the Bronze Medallion Logo face. _________________ "Everything Brad said is correct." - Chuck Pint |

| It's possible he had a bronze medallion. I don't remember for sure. However, in the rule book, it just says a bronze medallion lets you cast magic of any color. I would read that as just any of the basic spells of any color. I take it that means "magic of any color" has been ruled to mean "all spells of all colors, including racial?" If so, someone might want to clarify that if future rulebook versions. |

| Bronze Medallion Logo wrote: | SFR/TSR Logo (Bronze Medallion): Resolution Type: Normal (magic); Unique (non-magic action,
save roll, or non-maneuver avoidance roll)
During a magic action, generates magic results of any color. During any non-magic action, save roll, or
non-maneuver avoidance roll, counts as a Cantrip that can cast any color spell from the spell lists (basic
or racial). |
Based on the wording, during a magic action, the logo face generates four points of any color(s); these points can be used for basic spells or racial spells of any race in the army (like any other magical item). When used outside of a magic action (as a Cantrip), it can be used to cast any spell, basic or racial.
Note that some dice (Dragonlord and Dragonslayer) are white, which means they contain all five colors. When rolling for magic, these unit's results can be used to cast any color(s) of basic spells. They cannot cast racial spells because they are part of the Eldarim race (which has no racial spells). |

I did in fact use a Bronze Medallion in the Regionals. I have come to love the fact that I can roll a cantrip 25% of the time and to be able to instantly access some great 4 point spells from any list. Nothing like having access to Backlash, Flashfire, Evil Eyes, or Necromatic Wave to name a few. On top of that, the medallion also rolls a save 50% of the time. (75% if you use the cantrip to cast a save generating spell.) This die has become a staple in all my Open Armies!! _________________ "If toast lands butter side down and cats always land on their feet, what would happen if you strapped butter toast to the back of a cat and dropped it off a building?" |

I totally missed the "basic or racial" clause in the rulebook about bronze medallions. Thanks!
Derrick! Didn't realize you were Tinytode. Thanks for the fun matches. You raised my gameplay a notch by watching your tactics and the way you had assembled your army. Say hi to Amanda for me. |

Only when rolling to save against a melee attack or dragon attack. During any other type of save roll, it generates saves 25% of the time. _________________ "Everything Brad said is correct." - Chuck Pint |

Jonathan denies using Evil Eye with his Frostwings, claiming he doesn't even know what the spell does. The latter may very well be true, but he still may have cast that spell without realizing it was an Undead spell. Robert, on the other hand, could have used it with his Undead army. Besides, he wouldn't be above trying to cast a spell that belonged to another race... _________________ Steve "DDice" Braun
