The actual rulesabout the Kings die reads:
- Recruit a unit from your dead unit area to your reserve army.
- Promote one unit in your reserve army.
- Roll the Kings’ Die.
There is nothing about the health value for the unit for the first phrase.
I think it is one, but am i right? |

I noticed that too when checkin' up on the King's Die. It states it shortly after that, I do believe, but it really should say recruit one health when it first mentions the ability. _________________ Dragon Dice Musing and Such @ Reality's End |

The recruit one unit, as opposed to promote, pretty much assumes that the recruitment can only happen with 1 health units, 2, 3, & 4 health need to be promoted. Just the way I read, but I can see how it might be confusing _________________ D Scott O'Brien

The Kings' Die can do one of the following during the Inital Effects Phase:
(1) Recruit one unit.
(2) Promote one unit.
(3) Roll the Kings' Die and promote/recruit up to four health worth of units. You can recruit any size units or promote up any amount of health. For example, you can recruit a monster unit or Eldarim, or promote a common unit to a monster. The total health gain must be four health or less. _________________ "Everything Brad said is correct." - Chuck Pint

Look in the glossary:
| Quote: | Recruit/Recruiting: The bringing of a common (1-health) unit from the dead unit area into an army. If a player has
no common units in their dead unit area, then recruiting cannot occur. |
So normally anywhere in the rules it talks about recruiting, it means common units. Further into the rules for the Kings' Die, you'll see it talks about how with a Kings' Die, if you roll it, that rule is different.
The general case in the rules is always assumed. Where we override the general case, then we talk about that fully. This goes back to something I've said multiple times on this forum. Read the rules fully. You cannot pick and choose pieces of the rules and have it make any sense. And no, we are not going to write the rules so that everywhere it mentions X, we define it again. The rules would be 3-4 times as long if we did that. _________________ You can never have too many dice.
