OK, do units get to roll their magic items when saving from spells?
For example, the lightning strike spell requires a unit to generate a save or die. The shield magical items and some d10's are components that are rolled whenever the unit must roll. So, if a lightning bolt targets a unit with a shield, does it roll the shield and save(basically automatically)?
Also, do army targeting spells like flash flood also allow units to use maneuver items and so forth. _________________ Wow, that's one loaded Troll! |

Magical items are not rolled during individual unit rolls (such as against a Lightning Strike spell).
Magical items are only rolled during an army roll. |

Further more, individual units do not carry specific items*, even if there is only one unit in the army that is capable of carrying the item.
*their might be one exception that when a unit is moving into or from an army. Since unit's enter and leave armies one at a time, there is a specific one who carries the item.
Something I haven't considered until now... if you have units at home and units/MI in reserve. Can you reinforce just the MI from reserve to Home or must a unit go with them? _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

Which makes sense of course. |

Magic items cannot "move" without a unit. For a real fun example look at Wayfare. While the medallion provides the "power" for the movement, a unit has to go with it. Also spells such as Path move units. The only exception (you knew there had to be one), is Airy Acquisition. It moves only the magic item.
An even more fun example is when a Kings' Die is "holding" a magic item in reserves by itself. Another unit has to move into reserves, and then move out of reserves in order to move the magic item.
Also note that when I say "magic item" I'm referring to 4-sided magic items, artifacts or medallions. They all follow the same rules on movement. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

Path, Vanish, teleport, Ferry....
did I mention them all?
Yes...absolutely
path needs to be from terrain to terrain.
vanish, wayfare can go to the reserves as well as to terrains
spells that move you to the reserve.....
Chuck mentioned airy aquistion...
also
Rise from the ashes can move a magical item if the phoenix is killed it brings the magical item to the reserves with the phoenix
so I'm sure I did not mention all the ways
well I tried to help....hope that helps. |

Call of the Wild, Roar, units killed under an Open Grave, Firewalker movement, the list goes on. Anytime a unit moves for any reason from one terrain to another, or to/from reserves, it can carry a magic item with it as long as unit has a match for the color of the magic item. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

Magical items are only rolled during an army roll. |
Ok, thanks for clarification. I can't find that explicit rule in the section on magic items. It does say however that "A magical item can be rolled only if a unit capable of carrying that item is rolled." Oh well, I'll just put my Naga and other low saving monsters away for good then. (Pout) Now you made a loadedtroll cry, and that's a funny sight. _________________ Wow, that's one loaded Troll! |

Not necessarily!
Okay, monsters can be killed easily, but if I want to use them, I add something to restore them to my army, like Gold Medallions, Trolls ....
They get killed ==> they come back! _________________

Can earthen armor provide saves against lightning strikes and other targeted spells? _________________ Wow, that's one loaded Troll! |

If they are 'individual saves' then that is exactly what earthen armour is for. it provides no saves to an army roll, but does to an individual roll. _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |
