This is the only part I'd like to discuss a little further, just so we can say we have discussed it.
There are three ways to merge halving breaths together.
1)Make them only half no matter how many are joined.
2)Make them addative the way that AD&D3 does, so 1 is 1/2, 2 is 1/3, 3 is 1/4
3)Make them multiplicative the way chuck described, 2^(-n)
Is there anyone who likes an option other than 3?
I prefer #3, but want to make sure we discuss this fully so noone can say 'what about' later

I prefer #3 as well. Since the breaths are resolved in an order, not simoultaneously, the "basic" results being halved by the second breath can only be the ones after the first breath is resolved, NOT the ones the army had in the beginning of the attack (which would be #2!).
#3 makes more sense! _________________

Combining effects is easier. We have lots of precedence for that. Revival spells, the various smites, etc. have different sources, but the same effect. So we combine them.

So, let me get this straight, if i have two points of red magic and one point of green treefolk magic, I can combine a two-thirds spark of life and a one-third treefolk water of life to revive a one health unit? SWEET! _________________ Wow, that's one loaded Troll! |

I don't think so.
I believe you can combine spells that are fully paid for only.
Judges....? |

No. You must have 3 points of the right magic in order to bring back one health. If you want to bring back an uncommon unit, you can use any two of the various resurrection spells.
So Reanimate Dead (Basic black), Breath of Life (Basic blue), Water of Life (Treefolk green), and Spark of Life (Basic red) are all the resurrection spells. All take 3 points of magic (type and color noted).
Now you don't have to have all the same race to cast Basic spells. So if you get two points of Coral Elf magic, two points of Frostwing Magic, and two points of Goblin magic, you can take that as 3 blue (and cast Breath of Life) and 3 black (and cast Reanimate Dead). Then you could use those two spells to bring back an uncommon unit. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

No.
What Cliff was pointing out was that you could combine certain spells/SAIs because they have identical effects. For example, you can use a Spark of Life spell and a Water of Life spell to resurrect a 2-health unit. |

Oooops, I got "outposted", LOL.
Anyhow, I'll leave my post as it is, LOL.
Yes, of course, we're talking about combining FULLY PAID spells.
There's no way to combine parts of spells even if they have a similar effect.
In "Real life" that would mean that the magicians have to "combine" (melt together) their brains to get the effect going since one of them hasn't enough "mana" (or whatever you wanna call the magic energy).
Everybody who has ever played an RPG like Dungeons & Dragons knows, that this "Brain Melting" spell costs a tremendous amount of mana and is usually performed for extensive dark rituals, but not for a 1-health-reviving-spell.
Okay, back from "Reality" (LOL) to Dragon Dice:
As much as I would like to combine points like that, unfortunately it's not possible!!!

Ok, so I can only use two full sparks of life and two full waters of life or similar spells to revive a four hit point monster, and cannot splice magic points for non generic spells or colors of different colors to get a single life spell. Gotcha. _________________ Wow, that's one loaded Troll! |
