Answer to #1: The odds of getting a 1000 point dragon attack

New Question part one:
Using a single race army using one of each die (1 of each common, 1 of each uncommon, 1 of each rare, 1 of each monster), which racial army can generate the most damage results given any time limit?

Well, as we all know mixed armies don't work very well. The more different abilities an army has, the less damage you will roll per avarage roll.

This leads to my assumption that, without even bothering to calculate the odds, the UNDEAD should be able to roll the highest amount of damage points.

Undead have no missile units! That goes to the favor of skirmish (melee) units. Furthermore the cavalry units are replaced by light magicians (Undead are a VERY SLOW race!).

HENCE: instead of dividing each roll result into melee, missile, saves, maneuvers and magic, the Undead divide their rolls into melee, magic and saves only (well, they have few maneuver icons, but....).

My second guess:

FROSTWINGS! They have a powerful (if not THE most powerful) groupmonster (Wolfpack) which is re-rolled often (ID, Rends), and the other units have quite some re-roll faces as well (like Double Strike)

You don't expect me to seriously calculate the odds after just getting up and having my first half cup of coffee drunken only?
And the only thing I remember from school about mathematics is the stunning beauty of my former female maths teacher!!!

Just took a look at the Dice Commander's Manual, statistics, and discovered the Undead beaten by the Swampstalkers, at least at first sight!!!

Undead have 144 points of melee damage available, Swampies have 145!
Well, again, no percentage considered or calculated.
Swampies have many of their melee icons on monsters, and we all know that percentage goes down drastically with increasing number of faces!
I stay with my opinion: It's the UNDEAD!!!
(even though the last 3 races are not mentioned in the DCM)

If you are looking for a race with the most melee, counting rerolls, then several races can generate infinite results because of rerolls. If you have a time limit on the rolling time, then assuming each race gets the same number of rerolls, it become quickly down to which race has the most dice that can be rerolls. So you need to tighten up your question a bit more.

If you don't count any rerolls, then Dwarves win! How and why? Simple, they cast Burning Hands on all units. If all the dice roll max, they get 53, which can all be doubled to 106 (all normal icons or IDs, no SAIs).

BTW, Deeghter, it doesn't matter which races have the most melee icons across all the race. What matters is the maximum melee each unit can roll. Dwarves generate 53 max, Undead generate 60 max with no SAIs or rerolls. Swampstalkers only generate 58.

Yes, but how many rerolls? If you don't want the average, but just the max, then there are several races that can generate an infinite amount of melee.
